I have more than one of these handy units. I LOVE to know what the humidity level and temperature is in different rooms of our house and these do the job perfectly. I like that there is even a way to trigger the backlight function (press the icon of a light bulb on the bottom part of the frame to turn it on, one more time to turn it off) because once in a while, I'm curious about the temperature of a room (and it happens to be dark, no light switch immediately nearby, or I don't want to disturb a sleeper.) I know people like to use these as monitors for various animal or reptile enclosures, which is a good idea, but I don't use them like that. I literally am a weather geek outside and inside these four walls! The humidistat alone is worth it because we discovered a room that we'd never have suspected had much higher moisture levels. We had to buy a dehumidifier for it and we're glad we did. Oddly, it's the only room in the house, so this little "tool" earned its keep and then some! Nothing too fancy, but rugged (it's been dropped on carpeted floors and once on a hardwood floor) and the battery lasts quite long. IF you DON'T forget to turn the backlight back off!!! ... show more

I got this because I suspect that the central air has a problem. My bill went up 350 dollars for 2 people not doing anything different. Bill was never high before. Been here a long time but we rent. Landlord doesn't want to fix it. So I got this cause it was feeling very hot in the house. It was cooler outside than inside so it has a problem in the unit or thermostat. Hopefully this will convince the landlord that we have a problem. If not guess two old disabled people will be forced to move after years and years in the same place. Landlord doesn't want to spend any money. Hopefully this will gage the right temperature. It feels about right but my air unit doesn't. It is more of a problem than this. I just got it this afternoon but I don't know how accurate it is but if he comes out I will find out just how accurate it actually is. Will update it later. Cause it will be measured with something that is accurate. So we will see. But it feels like it is right but he will test it because there is a big difference between it and the thermostat. He will check it and see how accurate it is. Lol. Hope it is so he will fix the air unit. Either it or the thermostat is messed up. We will see just how accurate it actually is. It feels accurate but I don't have another thermometer to gage it to. Update: changed to a 5 star because it was checked with a professional machine and it was within less than one degree difference. So I'd say that it is pretty darned accurate. It is definitely worth the money. The old thermostat on my air went out and the unit was having some problems. So the actual air temperature in the room was checked next to this and it was less than 1 degree difference. For an 8 dollar thermometer it's accurate. I don't know how long it will hold up but it's been doing well. Whoever calibrated it was pretty close to being right on the mark I would recommend buying this one if you need an indoor thermometer. We have a woodstove to heat our home, so I never know the exact temp of our house. I have two of these downstairs, and one in our babies room. Having one in our babies room helps me to know how to dress the kids before bed, if its too hot/cold throughout the night, etc since I like to always keep their room around the same temperature. I love these little thermometers. These are perfect for reptile tanks. There are easy to see and read and I have found them to be great quality (we have several reptiles we use these for). They even come with a battery which is really nice! You open the box and are ready to go in under a minute! Also, have to say their customer service is GREAT. My most recent order, one of the 2 pack of thermometers did not function. I contacted the company (via TEXT which I really appreciate being able to do) and they immediately sent out a replacement - in fact they sent 2 thermometers, not just 1! Great display, easy to set up. Just put in a AAA battery, press the button on the back to change from Celsius to Fahrenheit. Works immediately when battery is installed. It's small but has a big display of temp and humidity. Purchased 2 to use in different rooms. I have a Chinchilla so its critical to monitor temp and humidity. Works great. The numbers are easy to read. The values are slightly different (usually a couple degrees for both temp and humidy) from my digital thermostat, even though i have it sitting right on top of the thermostat. Not sure which one is off. I'll have my HVAC guy check it with his meter next time he is here. I like the fact it is mountable, but so far, I keep moving it to different areas to check the humidity. Love how easy this display is to read, even from across the room. I’m not sure if it’s this unit or my old one, but while the temperatures are the same the humidity level on this unit is consistently 6-7% higher than the old unit. Not real keen on buying a third type to compare though so guess I’ll just wonder… Haven’t had to replace a battery so don’t know how long they actually last so only rating that a 3 for the time being. ... show more

I use this product in the summer to let me know when the humidity is so high, then I turn on the dehumidifier or when the humidity is nice and low so I can open the basement doors to let in cool fresh air. Nothing to the set up and easy to read! I can see the numbers from across the room.
