  • Great unit, odd control knob
Style: 2.5 Gallons
Hot water without the wait. Not only does it mean less waste waiting for the hot water getting to the sink from a primary water heater, but also makes doing quick tasks which require a little bit of hot water super easy. The temperature dial is a bit weird so have attached my interpretation for use as an undersink heater in a bathroom or kitchen. Bought two. Installation is easy. I used a 1/2 inch NPT (national pipe thread) flexible faucet connector much like the one which was installed under the sink except longer because of where I could fit the unit. I've been running them for a couple months with no trouble. EDIT: a few years later, both units are still working like new. Highly recommended. ... show more

  • A safer tank, Great size and shape, Quiet and simple to install
Style: 2.5 Gallons
After looking at a number of products that make the buyer do the protection from hot spots in the take (by adding a pressure valve that needs a drain, This product seems to take care and heat more evenly and without creating local steam from a too hot too small a heating element. Turning on for the first time I listened very close for the characteristic hiss or Pop from over aggressive heating elements - NONE Totally quiet! and the Heat time was very reasonable even quick - Temperature control very smooth with plenty of range. Size was great - having it built to SIT on the counter floor rather then requiring hang on the wall a real plus. One hit - The tank list NPT 1/2" fitting. Typical USA this is called a "compression Fit" and is NOT a FIP. And Most sinks and faucet connections are smaller, 3/8" . After a bit of fussing I found a 1/2 to 3/8 compression adapter (home depot etc) that fixed that - but I did have a challenge from the tank needing to be farther then the 30" lines available in hardware store - Found a great 4-foot with 3/8 compression on both ends from Amazon - which fit the bill perfect. only took 15-20 min to install once all the parts were found. ... show more

  • Started leaking from the bottom
Style: 2.5 Gallons
It worked great for a little while, water was definitely hot. It has been 3 months and it is leaking from a seam on the bottom of the unit. I noticed the floor was getting wet around it and I checked all the connections, thinking that is the only place it could possibly be leaking from. All the connections were bone dry. I dried everything up and in a matter of a couple of minutes water was beginning to gather on the floor under the unit. I told the unit back and dried it off only to see water start slowly seeping back out. 3 months is a pretty short time for it to fail. ... show more

  • Scalding hot on lowest setting
Style: 2.5 Gallons
UPDATE 8/3/2019 I contacted Thermoflow at the contact information they provided in their comment. While all that was really needed was a new thermostat for the heater, they did send out a complete replacement. I changed the water heater out this morning and the heater is now working properly. Thus the change from a 1 star rating to a 4 star rating. I would have given 5 stars if the fittings included made sense from a plumbing standpoint here in the US, but they don't. They would have been better off using true 3/8" pipe threads coming out of the water heater, but I believe they are something other than 3/8" pipe thread, possibly 3/8" straight threads because you need to use a rubber gasket on the included adapter. And the description says it's a 1/2" pipe connection, but that's not true without using the provided adapter fitting. ORIGINAL REVIEW: I purchased this in February and haven't had time to install it until now. First, the 3/8" pipe connection on the unit itself are not standard pipe threads. This makes it more difficult to install if you need to make some odd connections. Second after install no matter where I set the temperature control, even on the frost protection setting, the unit does not turn off resulting in scalding hot water coming out of the faucet. I wish I had time to install it back in February. I would have returned it to Amazon. But alas, that time has passed and I'll have to look for a different hot water heater. ... show more

  • Use 2 of these in different ways, excellent results!
Style: 4.0 Gallons
I purchased one of these for my Florida office and it works extremely well to deliver instant hot water for hand washing, etc. I purchased another one as a pre-heater for an addition on home with long lines to the primary hot water tank. This works superbly! Instant hot water for hand washing, instant hot water for shower until the main hot water tank takes over. For the shower, the cold inlet comes from the main heater tank and the outlet feeds the shower and wash basin. Works very well, saves time and water because you needn't let the faucet run and wait for hot water to come from main tank. Love the results! Excellent product and excellent results! ... show more

  • Get your parts before you start
Style: 4.0 Gallons
So, this unit is tall for a mini. Only because they've tried to hide the pipes from view by making the front taller. This is a point of contention because you can't install the pressure valve unless you use the supplied swivel fitting. But it's a POS fitting that breaks apart if you tighten it how one normally does. I've had it running and it leaks from that swivel coupling. It heats up nicely. Took a normal shower with warm water. That's how normally bathe. Took my normal time n had no issues. Other than the leaky union. I'm working on that as we speak but I guess it's ok for the price. Would I purchase again? Maybe. Do I recommend? Only If you're good with plumbing or know a good handy man. ... show more
