The PSU is supposed to be designed to provide 600 watts on its 16 pin cable for the newer GPUs (RTX 4090) and it does appear to be working properly. I've seen people mention that the cable is stamped 450 watts but the one I received reads 600 watts and it proves it. After a heavy work-load I touched the cable and there was no apparent heat coming from it, just the expected ambient transfer. I expected a little heat, at least, but no, just the same temps as the surrounding bits. I have the cable bent at least 90 degrees, and it pushes up against my glass window. I've investigated the apparent melting issues and it's only the loudest that seem to come through. I have 2x 4090s and both are fine, one even has the octopus cable which is also distorted heavily, even more so. Those with the most issues, I found, are those that were so afraid of the melting that they purchased special cables for their 4090s, which caused their failures. While the PSU has less pcie cables you have to recall that most of those cables would have gone to the GPU anyway, so you're good with the 3, of which I am not using any since it comes with the updated ATX standard. ... show more

Edit #2: added a screenshot of my attempt to RMA. Thermaltake wants to bill you for even requesting RMA services. AVOID THIS PRODUCT AND THIS COMPANY. They sold me a defective unit and now want me to pay for them to right this wrong. Edit: my PSU fried itself after nine months of use in a system that isn't near pushing this thing to full load or overheat and now my computer won't turn on. Review is dropped to one star. I reached out to see if thermaltake would honor the warranty and have heard nothing . The job of a power supply is in the name. You absolutely do not want to buy a stinker and risk potentially damaging your PC internals. This one does the job well, and is on the new wave that supports ATX 3.0 if you decide to buy a new Nvidia card. Great bang for buck at the 1,000 Watt level. Comes in a nice case and bag to make it feel premium as well. Easy mounting and my pin connectors slid right in. About all I can ask for from a power supply. ... show more

I absolutely love these modular power supplies, especially in custom modern builds where you don't need 4 molex connectors and a bunch of SATA power connectors just all bundled up and shoved in the case. Only use what you need and keep the rest in a box somewhere. Makes builds look really good and less cluttered. I liked on this how the 12V GPU cables are braided, since they're close to the window of the case and are the most visible. I wanted a PSU to handle anything I wanted to buy. My last PSU served me well for many years and the power connectors are changing especially for video cards. I'm due for a new video card and wanted to make sure I had the power and connectors ready. 600W to video card is overkill for a planned 7800 XT expected to use 250W but who doesn't like having breathing room? I believe a 650W PSU is the minimum recommended for a 7800 XT. The PSU is quiet and I've had no issues with it. I do wish the motherboard and video card power cables were a bit longer so it's easier to route through some cable management features in the case. ... show more

The modular cables make installation a breeze. The noise level may be higher than a "Be Quiet" model but the overall power protection make this one worthy of the boards and cards it protects. Every time I buy a PSU I never remember the company that I had used before mine started to go since I don't unbolt it from the tower until the new one arrives. Over the course of 4 separate computer builds and 13 years I've only had to buy 5 PSUs. All of them were Thermaltake.
