I was skeptical at first, but this little device works wonders! The Thermacell E-Series is compact, lightweight, and completely silent—no sprays, no strong scents, and no mess. Within minutes of turning it on, I noticed a huge difference: mosquitoes that normally swarm around me were nowhere to be found. I bought this after watching Steve Wallis using Thermacells on most of his youtube camping videos. I'm a mosquito magnet AND their bites give me huge itchy ugly welts. I hate them. The price is a bit of a barrier otherwise I probably would have tried this sooner. I don't camp much anymore and I wanted one I could use outside our house without having to buy butane so opted for this rechargeable model, and having one with a built-in light makes a lot of sense. The unit is a lot larger than I expected and it creates a nice soft glow when the light is turned on at night. It does repel mosquitoes, but not the other insects. I was hoping I could leave the nasty skin creams and sprays behind, but the Thermacell is only effective if there isn't any breeze. But when the air is still, it's nearly 100% effective: I don't get bit. I can see the mosquitoes near me but they don't land or bite. If the breeze picks up, the mosquitoes come in. If the breeze picks up some more, the breeze itself blows the mosquitoes away so the product wouldn't be necessary. So there is a fairly small window of effectiveness for this product, but in that window it is very effective. It is nice to know I can skip the mosquito repellent spray if I'm going to be out when the air is still. Having a built-in light, the unit doubles as a soft table lamp or emergency lighting. The light functions independently of the heater necessary for the repellent, so one can also use this "just as a light", and I find this feature more useful than I thought I would when I was shopping. My only complaint is that the unit isn't water resistant in any way, so I have to be super careful to remember to bring it in because we live in a rain forest. (Mosquitoes LOVE rain forests!) Even if it's under a covered area, sideways rain isn't unusual here so this has to be brought indoors every time when not in use. Turning the light on helps me remember that it's there and needs to be brought inside.

Tried several times to use this. Couldn’t get it to work. Reached out to their customer service team and it turns out I’m just an overwhelmed gal who wasn’t thinking clearly after losing my father in law. I didn’t see the blue strip covering the propeller. Once I followed their advice I was able to power it on immediately! Can’t wait to use it in a few weeks when we go camping

Not quite sure how effective this device is. I have still received mosquito bites as well as watched them fly around the supposed protected area. I am using this on my patio. The pros are that the light is very bright and it seems to engage quickly. The cons are the battery is supposed to last for 9 hours but it only tells you it needs to be charged by displaying a red light that signifies it no longer has enough power to operate . (Too late). It also takes 9 hours to charge. Are you kidding me? Last con there is no signal to tell you the chamber holding the repellent is empty. It will just continue to drain the battery expelling no repellent. Do you really expect me to continuously lift out the repellent container to see if it’s empty yet? I honestly think for the pricey device and very pricey refills there should be no cons.

We brought this Thermacell on a camping trip with the kids, and it was a total lifesaver! Thermacell solution does work, not only with mosquitoes but with fruit flies as well. But this specific dispenser is lacking. The light is not dimmable and the light temperature is wrong. And the biggest problem with this model is the battery. They are not as good as the one one without the lights.

Makes a nice little addition around my RV. The first bottle of repellent disappeared within an hours like two! So it may be rather expensive to keep feeding. But everybody reports the thermal system slows down mosquitoes. Once I bought this thing, the Gulf of America weather turned windy, so it’s hard to tell. The dimmable light works very nice on the picnic table when needed. Being rechargeable is very handy. I bought some 72 hour cartridges. So I will always have juice around.
