These rechargable Thermacell Mosquito repellers work just as well as the "fuel and card" type, and both are effective after about a 100-15 minute "start-up" to treat the area. The only limitation is during strong wind, but mosquitos are usually less problematic then. Highly recommend.

Been using for a year and it does as product states.......keeps the mosquitos away. I live in a aera that is plagued by some of the largest mosquitos and even those big ones are deterred.

The unit is well built. The power button and indicator lights are poorly designed and the cartridges are not cheap and do not last long. But the unit appears to work well once runnit. It can be a bit expensive to use of course.

I've been using the Thermacell Mosquito Repellent EX90 on my patio here in NYC, and I've got to say, it's a game-changer for those cooler evenings when mosquitoes still want to crash the party. It really does keep the bugs away, and the best part? It's scent-free, so no more dealing with that typical bug spray smell. What I Like: It Works! No more swatting mosquitoes every five minutes. This device creates an invisible shield that keeps them at bay. Battery Life is Solid: It lasts through my entire evening outside—about 9 hours. Plus, it comes with a 12-hour refill. Super Portable: The rubber armor feels sturdy, and the carabiner clip is super handy. I've clipped it to my backpack for hikes with friends, and it's been great for keeping mosquitoes away from our group. What's Not So Great: Refill Costs: The refills can hit the wallet a bit hard unless you snag them on sale. I really enjoyed this product and its ability to keep mosquitoes away from me. Just know that it seems to only be mosquitoes, so other small bugs will still be there. That is not a fault, just something to know. Know that, the smoke that comes out of the top as it burns the solution can vary widely on where it disperses and in which direction. So my guess is that the effective area is a moving target that varies widely. Especially if you are in a more windy place where the chemical may be dispersed more quickly and thus results in less efficacy. The battery takes forever to charge. And when I say forever, I mean hours. I have a Anket battery bank. That can run laptops, air pumps, charge multiple cell phones and tablets. And this device takes about as long as that does and has way less capacity. There needs to be an upgrade in the speed with which this charges. And in regards to charging time. There is no indicator how charged it is. All I need is a series of LEDs, which it has, that as they light up indicate how charged the device is. It makes no sense to not have that because I want to know how close I am to getting a full charge and how long it is taking.

Picked this up on a whim because I've heard good things from other people who use them and I was a bit skeptical. Night after night I get chewed up my mosquitos, I treated my yard twice once with DEET and once with Cutter Organic Yard Treatment both of which did next to nothing. I put this out, waited about 20 minutes and ZERO bites. I did have one mosquito land on my leg from under my chair but it didn't bite me and I quickly killed it. That's 1 mosquito in an hour! Which I'll gladly take over having dozens come at me within the first 5 minutes of going outside. So I'm willing to say this absolutely works. Now it's definitely emitting a vapor as you can see in the pictures so I believe on windy days this probably won't be very effective. I'd also say the effective range is probably a bit lower than advertised, I'm assuming that range is like in peak operating conditions maybe even indoor testing to get that figure as I felt mosquitos trying to land on me when I went to my garage which was about 18 feet from where I set up the thermacell. That said however, I just bought a second one. 2 overlapping should be more than enough to cover my patio on non-windy days.
