Description

They’re giving her to the Witch. Devil, monster, enemy of God. Shackled by the chains that lock around her head, Pandora has always been confined within the kingdom behind the Wall. The tales of what lay beyond were merely stories—dark fairy tales designed to keep them trapped there. But when those tales turn into her nightmare, she’s offered as a symbolic sacrifice, a final punishment for the darkness marring her soul. Pandora isn’t the only one being punished. Prince Sitri has no desire for a bride, least of all his enemy—garbed like a sacred virgin from another century. Tasked with the burden of watching over this stubborn, naive outsider, he takes the role of her reluctant protector. Locking her away in his chambers like an unwanted pet, he insists it’s the only way to keep her safe in a kingdom that would prefer to see all those who lack magic dead. Pandora fights to break free. Yet when strange new desires begin compelling her toward her captor instead of away, she knows his magic must be the culprit, manipulating her very will. Battling to retain control, she slowly works to unravel the mystery as to why she’s been sentenced here: a plot to humiliate him and tarnish his bloodline. But for every secret she uncovers, her own darkness grows harder to contain. Read more

  • A fast favorite in enemies to lovers
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5/5 Spice: 🌶🌶.5/5 -Enemies to Lovers - Touch her and die - Morally gray mmc - Magic - Witches - Slow burn - Dual POV - Banter - Arranged marriage - Prophecies and potions - Forced proximity Had the pleasuring of reading the ARC and wow it didn't disappoint. This was the perfect book to break out of a slump and in my opinion, a refreshing addition to current tropes and the fantasy genre. A dark world of fantasy surrounds Pandora (fmc) and Sitri (mmc) with such vivid detail. From the forests that aim to devour its victims, to the kingdom of "witches" covered under the guise of ever flowing magic. Both pressured into a marriage they didn't ask for in order to protect who means the most to them, Pandora and Sitri often were at each other's throats with such ferocity, frustration, and passion through a comfortable majority of the book. To me this was a really great read at what enemies to lovers SHOULD feel like. The angst, the tension, and the crumbs just kept giving and I begged for more. This was romance done so well. For all the situations both characters felt at complete odds there were juicy moments of Sitri charming both me and Pandora into an oblivion. They're such enjoyable characters on their own and together. Not to mention the side characters! All compelling and drive the story in ways that don't feel out of place. Did I mention the utterly its to die for banter? So clever at times while still retaining that sarcasm, fun, and social awareness especially coming from Sitri's end. Not that Pandora is ordinary in that regard. She's someone I enjoyed getting to know and already love. I can't wait to see what awaits her in the next book. "Or maybe I was intentionally trying to avoid explaining it because I'm not sure she'll understand. I know she won't understand. She thinks I'm humiliated to be seen with her. If things were different I'd gladly flaunt her to the world." ... show more

  • Girl what
Format: Kindle
This book did so well with the tension and relationship building that everything else felt flat. I have no idea how their world/politics/magic system even works. It doesn’t even end on a cliffhanger. It just kinda ends randomly. What’s the end goal? Where is this going? There’s a prophecy mentioned briefly and then never again and it seems like it’s supposed to be a big deal? ... show more

  • There’s only one thing I didn’t like about this book, that it doesn’t have a sequel yet.
Format: Kindle
Rating: 5 stars. Spice: 🌶️/5 Not going to lie Romantasy is really a big hit or miss for me. I also prefer standalone novels, but this book is a Romantasy series and I need more ASAP! Often I find the FMC’s powers unbelievably strong, gaining them with no real strife, or the FMC’s are annoyingly naive and continually doing things that are just dumb. Pandora was neither of those things, she’s a complex person: intelligent, but very ignorant of the ways of the world because of her sheltered life. Sirti was written well too. He’s wounded and lovable, but at the same time you question his motives. Also, for a book with such dark themes there were times while reading when my husband asked why I was laughing to myself. The banter between the two of them was top notch. I will say for you spice lovers, this is a slow burn for sure, but the author did a good job spreading out unique ways to insert spice. It’s open door, but… it hard to explain without any spoilers. Just read the book. ... show more

  • Honest review
Thank you so much, Kerri D. Andrews, for providing me with a copy of the book. Beautifully written. A unique magic system. Humans live protected behind a wall. The magi exist everywhere else. The humans have an archaic way of thinking and religion. The banter kept me amused the whole book. The right amount of spice. Feisty FMC with an internal belief that she is bad. Reluctant prince and husband. Dark fantasy vibes. Morally grey MMC is gorgeous and lethal. Touch her and die. Forced marriage and close proximity but they end up being perfect for one another. Both very loyal to their sisters. Slow burn. A touch of prophecy. The character development is eloquent and complex. I can’t wait to read the next book to see how Sitri and Pandora’s life continues. ... show more

  • cliffhanger
Format: Kindle
I really hate cliffhangers. Especially if there is no warning. I was thinking they would get somewhere with the plot around 80% and it kept twisting around and around and AROUND! LONG book and very long winded. Characters were good. I had a hard time with pandora. If the second book comes out I hope her character gets a huge overhaul. ... show more

  • Great Characters With Bad Habits
Format: Kindle
I really liked the characters but I’m not a big fan of the misunderstanding trope. It kinda takes me out of it. I kept feeling like they ended up back at square one after each misunderstanding. It feels like they’re not evolving even though the story does. I NEVER like the MMC more than the FMC, Sitri got me. I thought he was interesting and enjoyed his sass. ... show more

  • 5 stars!!
This book had me hooked from the start! The world is SO cool. The characters are so compelling. Pandora being married off to a witch, Sitri, sets up such an interesting dynamic. Hello arranged marriage trope!! And can we talk about Sitri for a sec??? He's mysterious, powerful, and hot. I mean look at the cover. New book boyfriend: unlocked. If you're into magic, arranged marriages, secret histories, and dark fantasy vibes with a twist, you need to pick this up. Check the triggers though!! ... show more

  • Loved it!
Format: Kindle
This was a really fun book. Excellent world building, character dynamics were incredible, and the back-and-forth between Pan and Sitri had me grinning like a doofus. Both MCs were competent-but-flawed. A few of Pan’s choices definitely had me giving her the side-eye (in that good, invested way, because let’s face it, this princess has been locked in a tower her whole life and doesn’t have a whole lot of worldly experience). And Sitri definitely had me ready to whack him with a shoe sometimes! 😂 Overall, I was sucked in from page one and binged the whole thing. Can’t wait for book two! ... show more
