Haven't tested it for serious cold, 35F might be pushing it a bit, but for normal use (say 45F+) it should be excellent. -THE KEY IS CENTER ZIP! -Research says THE VAST MAJORITY OF PEOPLE ARE SIDE SLEEPERS (65%+). -Most switch left to right sides during the night (I do). -This always keeps the zipper where you need it. -For safety purposes, to get out of the bag quickly it is essential. For comfort, it is a must. -Being able to zip/vent from the bottom is vital to adjust for temperatures and to use the bag as a huge jacket. The North Face Stormbreak 35F sleeping bag is a welcome addition to our family's growing collection of camping gear. It's actually the first true cold-weather sleeping bag we own, and it doesn't disappoint. To start with, it packs away very easily into the carrying bag (not always the case with sleeping bags!) and it's compact besides. (The included compression sack allows you to compress it down to a very small size indeed, should you choose to do so, although you shouldn't store it that way long-term.) Both the back and the compression sack seem durable and well-made -- something else you can't say for every sleeping bag that comes along. It's spacious and on the large side when unrolled for use. It's still a mummy bag, but it's plenty roomy (at least for our tastes.) The fabric is smooth and silky. The zippers are sturdy and operate smoothly. We haven't had the opportunity to test it camping in colder temperatures yet, but it has been comfortable to use, and there's a thick, warm hood to keep your head warm. Zipped up and paired with a decent insulated sleeping pad, I wouldn't be afraid to take this out in temperatures within about ten degrees of the advertised rating (I sleep cool and need bags rated for lower temperatures than actual conditions.) The value is as you'd expect in this price point, and being North Face, we have confidence in the product to live up to its reputation. ... show more

I ordered this for my son's 6th grade camp and honestly, it worked out way better than expected. I didn't want something bulky or complicated, just something reliable that he could carry and that would actually keep him warm. I wanted something that would be easy for him to manage on his own, and this checked all the boxes. It is very lightweight, he had to carry his own gear, and this didn't add a ton of extra weight, which was super important for us. It also packs down nicely into the stuff sack without a struggle. If you have every tried putting a sleeping bag back into its bag, you know the struggle and this matters a lot. Warm wise, it did its job. The nights at camp were chilly but he said he stayed comfortable and warm the whole time. I also like that it has a full zipper so that he could adjust it if it got too warm, he tends to run a little hot, so that flexibility helped a lot. The material is very durable and still soft enough to be comfortable. I would definitely use it again for future trips or even family camping.
