  • Perfect for office use and light exercise where you need to hear the world around you
[Update 16 months of use. Still love them.] I am a huge fan of bone conduction headphones, mostly because I work in an office in a position where I have to be able to hear the world around me, and I have a jogging route I like that's along a road, but they never sat quite right on my head and would start bugging me after awhile. Recently I bought a pair of "true wireless" earbuds and fell in love with the convenience and lightweight feel, but I never really liked the feeling of stuffing them into my ear, especially over long periods of time. And obviously they couldn't take the place of my headphones because they blocked sound. These take the best of both worlds. They aren't bone conduction so it doesn't need contact with your head; it's more like having tiny speakers that whisper into your hear. I can hear the world around me, I can hear my music perfectly, and the world around me can't hear my music so I'm not bothering my coworker sitting six feet away from me. They're light enough that they sit on my ears comfortably, such that I've forgotten I've had them in until I walk away from my phone and my music stops. It took some getting used to, I think. For a few days they felt like they were pinching something in my ear on one side but that went away. I should say, I am not an audiophile by any definition of the word. Also I'm listening to a lot of lo-fi music while I work. That said, they sound great to me. Your mileage may vary. Negatives: 7 hour battery life is not quite enough to get me through a workday, but if I charge them during my lunch hour it's not a problem, and if I forget, I can still leave one side charging and the other side playing. The case is also bulkier than most true wireless earbuds. I get that these have a much wider profile, so it's necessary, but I would like to see if they could make a the case a little thinner in future iterations. But the headphones fit nicely into the case via magnet and the lid magnetically closes nice and tight. I'd say, if you need this, you know you need it. I'm very happy with these. Edit: three months in these are still my go-to. They're so light I still forget I have them on sometimes. No earphone tips that get dirty and need to be cleaned is also a plus. Battery life is still an annoyances sometimes and it'd be great if there was a button that let you disconnect from the phones instead of through the device. There's still nothing on the market today that I would swap these for. [Update 16 months or so] These are still going great. Right now I'm using them primarily in the office. I bought a second pair of similar but cheaper wireless earphones: one thing I noticed with the cheaper ones there's more audio bleed. Like I can wear these and no one around me is going to hear my music, as if it's going straight into my ear. The cheaper ones are more like tiny speakers near my ear. They have more batteries life but I still prefer Acreo brand ones for sound quality and privacy. These have also been unexpectedly good for traveling in e.g. subways, airports, etc. because I can hear my music but I can also hear around me. I just have better spatial awareness with these vs in-ear earbuds. Hoping we see an update from Acreo sometime. These have been pretty nice. ... show more

  • Better than expected
I went into this purchase with low expectations given the fact that they are “open”. I have nice headphones for listening to music, but I wanted something comfortable and open for listening to anything non-music for the rest of the time. They exceeded my low expectations and I was actually surprised. The audio quality is better than you’d expect. It’s not going to sound as good as expensive over-ear or in-ear headphones for music, of course, but that should be obvious. For everything else like TV, movies, podcasts, videos, etc. they are great. They sound significantly better than top-of-the-line bone conduction headphones. Night and day difference. And if you really wanted to use them for music, they’re honestly not terrible. There’s just going to be a large lack of depth in the bass. The bass is there, but it’s not amazing and just not going to sound the same since the speaker is out of your ear with no seal at all. They are so comfortable there have been times I put a video or show on and reached for the case to put them on, only to realize I had forgotten I was already wearing them. The ear hooks behind my ears are the only parts that touch me. The main body of it with the speaker hovers just over my ear without touching. The ear hooks are a rubbery material and slightly flexible. They stay in place very well; I’d have to be shaken upside-down for them to fall off. They have a low-latency mode you can toggle on, at the cost of increased battery usage. I usually don’t use it because the latency isn’t that bad. But if you really had to have minimal delay between audio and video, the option is there and it works. The USB-C charging port and wireless charging are nice bonuses. As for battery life of the buds, I haven’t timed it, but it’s long enough that I don’t suspect it to be far off from the advertised times. Wish it was much longer so I could just use them all day without worrying about them dying, but it’s not bad as is. ... show more

  • 4 out of 5 stars Update
I have been trying to figure out a way to get these to fit better and so far the best way is to purchase a Pod Skinz accessory kit from most discount retailers and use the rubber Sport Hooks that are meant for ear pods, but these will give a better fit, just attach to the tips of the earpiece and place behind the ear. Pros: good quality, easy to use, durable, the earpieces rest on the ear instead of inside it, they don’t get earwax, the way earbuds or AirPods do. They feel really light when worn. Cons: these earpieces do not fit the way earbuds or AirPods fit, which means you don’t get the full sound effect and background noise is still there. To get the best sound, I have to wear a headband so the earpieces fit tight against the ears, they sound great and block outside noise, IF you press them against your ears with your hands or use a headband or something that keeps tension on them. That is my review and I have been told my head is larger than normal and I have big ears, so they may fit differently on someone with smaller ears ... show more

  • First impression (will update) First impression (will update)
11/14: noticed some static that can get uncomfortable. Wonder why. Doesn't last long. Day 2 of purchase: Sofar so good. Wore them all day yesterday and I am impressed. I am allergic to in ear buds so open ear buds or over the ear headphones are the only ones for me. I have a pair of Bose over the ear for noise cancelation purposes and now these for everyday wear around the house or running errands. They're light and not painful for glasses wearer. The sound quality is pretty good. Is it Bose quality? No. But pretty close. I also left my phone in my room and went outside to open my gate and had no pause or glitches. I have small ears as you can see from the photo so for me they're pretty comfortable. They also can get pretty loud so you can get noise cancelation that way. I like that I am alert on what's happening around me. It has a Chargeable case. I listen to music everyday so I'll update as I go. If you are allergic to in ear buds this will be your savior. ... show more

  • Only worked well for about a month.
I bought 2 of these about two months ago and for the first couple of weeks they worked well, then one set started disconnecting and reconnecting randomly through out the day. I returned this set a received a new one. Here are the pros and cons. Pros: Price is right Fits comfortably on your ear. Noise consolation is good. Can hear surround noise while listen to music. Music comes through clear and sounds great. Phone calls or clear on both sides. Battery life is long. I can listen to music for about 7 to 8 hrs without having to recharge. The case that comes with it. Is a charger so when your out you can recharge if needed. I think the volume level determines how long a full charge lasts. Cons: Everything listed in pros will ONLY last about a month. After that one by one everything that's listed starts to deteriorate. The headset begins to drop the connection and reconnect to your phone randomly. Also there is only one button on both ear buds that control everything. How many times you push it and length of time that you hold it allows you to control your phone. It's hard to remember what you need to do in order to hang up, pause music, skip song, replay song, etc. So my conclusion DON'T buy!!!! ... show more

  • Some tweaks will give a 5-star product!
I love the idea of open ear headphones, because I really want situational awareness when I'm listening to music. I hate the feel of earbuds in my ear canal and these are a great way around that, without having to wear full sized headphones that can be too heavy to exercise in and don't allow as much awareness. They also sound WAY better than bone conducting headphones, without the annoying buzzing feeling. I LOVE that the headphones and case charge wirelessly! It's super convenient. The fit and finish of these are great, much more than I was expecting for something that was this price. The packaging and presentation are very professional. The instructions aren't great, but quite usable. I like that ACREO seems to intend to stand behind their products. I did not like: Comfort: the earpieces are just not comfortable. I've worn glasses for years and did not expect this to be a problem, but for some reason these are not like wearing glasses at all, and they hurt more than I was expecting, even with the reviews where a lot of people talk about it. It's bearable, sure, but it's distracting. Bluetooth: These paired ok with my Android phone and my iPad, but they are terrible with my Windows 10 computer, which is what I planned to use these with a lot. I can connect and use other bluetooth things on my computer just fine, so I know it's not the computer. In short: These are a great idea and I am excited to have more manufacturers enter the open ear headphone space, I think it fills a great niche. These just need a few tweaks and they'd be great- maybe the next generation! For now I had to return them, but I look forward to seeing more products from this company. ... show more

  • Great product!
I wanted to wait to write a review until I used these for awhile so I did. I can't use earbud because the cut my ears and cause infections so I've tried a few pairs of open ear, needless to say all of them died within a week or just didn't work. But these are amazing! I've used then for several weeks now and they are the best I've ever used. They have a very good speaker, the last pair I had to turn all the way up to barely hear but not these. I usually use one at a time and just one side has lasted me up to 7 hours without charging. I use them all day every day only having to switch between them once normally. I was skeptical about the ear hook not fitting or being uncomfortable but I honestly will forget I'm wearing them, I can't hardly feel them on my ear after putting them on and they don't cause any irration. You can't really lay on your side while wearing them but other than that they're great. I don't use them during exercise so I can't speak to that, but they stay on so much better than any other earbud I've used. Im not sure if they'd stay on well or not. They don't cancel out sound which makes them perfect for work or driving. I have to say all in all these are the beat and a must buy if you are looking for oper ear style. ... show more

  • Don't fit my ears, and keep going out of sync Don't fit my ears, and keep going out of sync
At first I was really excited when I found these. I have tinnitus and needed to find something that would not stick inside my ears without being too large and clunky. I have a small head and the conduction headphones with the bar that goes behind the head would frequently be pushed out of position. My ears also stick out enough that it has always been difficult to find large over-ear headphones that don't put too much pressure on my outer ear. When I opened the package and saw how soft and flexible the earhooks were (as opposed to other reviews I've read that said they were a hard plastic) I was thrilled. They went on easily and were very comfortable at first. But after wearing them for a couple hours they became very uncomfortable. At first I thought they simply squeezed my outer ear too tightly. The earhooks may be flexible, but they do want to maintain their original shape and do not mold to your ear. I also noticed that the hook on one piece was a lot closer to the speaker than the hook on the other piece was. This meant one speaker fit a lot tighter than the other. After a couple weeks I think my ears have gotten used to them to the point where they do not ache noticeably while wearing them, but they are still very sore when I take them off. The sound is very good, both while listening to music/audiobooks or during calls, but because they are not designed to block out ambient noise they are difficult to hear when walking in a noisy area. Another problem I noticed after a week or two is that the two sides would frequently get out of sync when the sound stops. I listen to a lot of audiobooks and every time there is a lag between chapters it sounds like the speakers can't decide which one wants to start first when the sound comes back. It only takes about half a second for them to get back in sync, but it is extremely annoying. The control button also seems to be having issues already. After a couple weeks of use the button frequently doesn't like to resume playback after its been paused for a bit. I am returning these and will keep looking for a different style to fit my ears better. ... show more
