If you have a father who both loves the aquatic lifestyle, fixes boats, and loves coffee (like they all do) that this thing is a dream gift cometh true. With a little finger twisting that outboard propeller will make light weight of that black and 1 sugar coffee. (Cream doesn't seem to effect it at all if the good man likes a spoon of each)! Though this 2-finger powered dingy will set coffee ablaze, it does so quietly. *Boat motor sounds subject to the hilarity your father/old man has. I know it’s a novelty. It’s cute, but the propeller floats, so when it is put on the cup and in liquid, the propeller hits the motor. Definitely a novelty, but not one that functions like it should.

The thing was no bigger than a deck of smokes, a toy outboard meant for a child with more imagination than sense. Yet there it sat on the rim of my morning mug, chugging away like it had someplace to be. The little prop kicked up the cream in slow, lazy swirls, turning my coffee into a muddy whirlpool that looked a lot like the city at dawn—dark, restless, pretending to be calm. I had to hand it to the gizmo. It worked. And it worked with a kind of ridiculous charm that cuts through the grind of a long week. Watching that miniature engine sputter along the edge of my cup gave me a laugh—one of the honest ones, the kind you don’t get much in this town. For a cheap novelty, it punches above its weight. Two stars for the idea of the item. However, out of the box that had no damage to it, the shaft was bent and the blade would hit the frame not allowing them to turn. It was a gift so it wasn’t opened until past the return date or I would have done so. At the price point it was at I was expecting a little higher quality item not a carnival game prize or a happy meal toy. No different than those wind up walking ducks. Not close to the dressed up walking monkeys banging the timbering's together toy. Which also sell for less. I had to crack open the casing. Probably not the best idea if going to be inside peoples drinks for sanitary purposes. Take out the prop shaft an unbend it. After getting it not wobble, reassembling it I wound it up a bit. The force that the motor created wasn’t strong enough to turn the blade in liquid. It would turn in the air but as soon as I dropped in a glass of water it would stop. There could have been more things wrong with the motor being the metal shaft was bent somehow. Im sure the plastic attached to it didn't respond well to whatever they were attached to. I guess what Im saying is check you motor fist thing. Don’t assume it’s all good because after the return date you get stuck with junk that’s not priced as junk. Im not sure why purchase dates have anything to do with products that are faulty. There are many times I purchase items that I don’t get around using or giving to people for months after I purchase them. Im not sure if the return policies are amazons rule or the makers of the product? So I don’t know if the product can even mix a drink or not because what I received was faulty. It’d be nice if the makers remedied the issues and my review on a working product would be edited but through Amazon it was too late to return. ... show more
