Description

The Magus: A Complete System of Occult Philosophy is a comprehensive guide to the study and practice of occultism. Written by Francis Barrett in the late 18th century, the book covers a wide range of topics, including astrology, divination, alchemy, and ceremonial magic. It is divided into three parts, each of which explores a different aspect of the occult. The first part provides an overview of the history and principles of occultism, while the second part delves into the practical aspects of magic, including the use of talismans, sigils, and invocations. The final part of the book is dedicated to the study of natural magic, which involves the use of herbs, stones, and other natural materials to create magical effects. Throughout the book, Barrett draws on a variety of sources, including ancient texts, medieval grimoires, and contemporary occult practices, to provide a comprehensive and accessible introduction to the world of occultism. The Magus is a classic work of occult literature that continues to be studied and practiced by modern occultists today.1801. In this work, the author has collected many curious and rare studies and ideas in regard to the subject of natural magic, the Cabala, celestial and ceremonial magic, alchemy, and magnetism. Selected contents: use of astrology, amulets and charms, stones, alchemy, the four elements, magnetism, cabalistical magic, the composition of the magic circle. Illustrated with number charts, mystical alphabets, etc. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. • Illustrated? Where?
Not a single image found anywhere in the KINDLE version. Did I buy the wrong one? I downloaded the book primarily due to the ILLUSTRATED version being punted. Or is my KINDLE just to old?

  • Best Collector's and Spirtual Item Out Their
By far, this book is the best I have ever seen on any sort of occult, metaphysical, and parasycology. The best part of the book is the angelic section which is refrenced in countless other Angelic books such as: Gustav Davidson's "A Dictionary of Angels", Matthew Bunson's "Angels A to Z" and D.J. Conway's "Magick of the Gods & Goddesses" formoaly known as "The Ancient & Shinning Ones". This is a great collector's item. If anybody who knows how much it is really worth, both in context and value, should not critize it. ... show more

  • Massive accomplishment
Francis Barrett was a 17th Century Englishman who was a student of chemistry, metaphysics and natural occult philosophy. This best known work, The Magus, purported to be a handbook on the occult and magic, is said to have influenced novelist Edward Bulwer-Lytton and author Eliphas Levi. Highly recommended for any student of metaphysics and/or the occult for its wide range of subject matter. ... show more
