Dark, Engaging Thriller You Won’t Forget Anytime Soon
Format: Paperback
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨ 4.5 stars. Wow. There is a lot to unpack in this brilliant and addictive novel. I listened to this book on audio, and it was incredibly well done. The narration truly elevated the experience and made it even more immersive. This was one of those stories that completely pulls you in. I ended up finishing it in a day because I simply couldn’t stop. The story does start a bit slow, but that buildup is intentional. Once it picks up, it really takes off and becomes impossible to put down. While the pacing at the beginning felt like a solid 4-star read, the overall impact of the story pushed it to a 4.5 for me. This is the kind of plot that stays with you. What makes this book stand out is how bold and unsettling it can be. Some scenes are emotionally heavy and even uncomfortable, especially as they explore psychological and emotional abuse. At times, it’s difficult to read, but that discomfort adds to how real and powerful the story feels. It highlights how manipulation, narcissism, and control can exist behind closed doors, often hidden beneath the image of a “perfect” life or a “perfect” partner. The characters are layered and, at times, deeply flawed, which makes their choices both frustrating and fascinating. It really makes you think about what people are willing to do for money, status, or validation, and how easily someone can be deceived or manipulated. I went into this book completely blind, and I’m so glad I did. The twists were unexpected, clever, and incredibly satisfying. There’s a strong sense of karma throughout the story, and watching it unfold was one of the most rewarding parts of the entire experience. Overall, this is a gripping, entertaining, and thought-provoking thriller that I will not forget anytime soon. Definitely one I would recommend if you enjoy dark, twisty stories with psychological depth. ... show more

evil people
Format: Kindle
I wouldn’t classify this as a favorite book, but it fulfilled what I wanted: a page-turner. Unfortunately, the world is filled with evildoers who worship at the altar of Satan. The author did a good job of introducing readers to two such people.

4 Stars
Format: Kindle
I'm conflicted about this thriller. There were times I felt like I was barely reading a three star book and other times it almost reached a five. I decided to meet in the middle and settled on four stars. I'm still not sure that was the correct choice... SUMMARY The story, initially told from Amber's point of view, opens with Amber orchestrating an "accidental" meeting at the gym between herself and Daphne Parish. Daphne is the wife of Jackson Parrish, one of the most wealthy, influential (not to mention good-looking) men in a Connecticut town full of wealthy, influential people. Daphne seems to have to perfect life; a handsome, very rich husband, two adorable girls and one of the most beautiful homes in town full of beautiful homes. The only downside seems to be that she desperately misses her sister who died from CF (Cystic Fibrosis) almost twenty years earlier. Aside from her husband and children, Daphne's passion is the not-for-profit, Julie's Smile, she started in her sisters honor. Because she is a girl who does her homework, Amber knows to use a feigned CF connection to insinuate herself into Daphne's life. It works like a charm. Soon the two women become fast friends, bonding over the loss of their beloved sisters - pretend loss on Ambers part. It becomes clear early on that Amber's end goal is to steal Jackson from Daphne, becoming the next Mrs. Parrish. It seems she will go to any lengths to get what she wants. Part two is told from Daphne's point of view, and that's where the book gets interesting. Is there more to the story than there appears to be? Is Daphne more than an over privileged housewife with a staff of household help and a charmed life? Author, Liv Constantine (actually co-authoring sisters, Valerie and Lynne Constantine), slowly reveals the story behind the story and it's quite a tale!!! WHAT I LOVED Initially, I thought I was reading kind of a flat 'been there, done that' recycled plot. Not a bad one, but not very unique. I kept going because this book received positive reviews from some of my GR friends so I knew it had to be good. Glad I did!! Although there were a few clues dropped during Amber's narrative, letting the reader know there would be more to the story, the plot really picked up once Daphne's account began. I love that the story is told by two different characters. It was so much fun to hear what each was thinking about various events. The main twist, which was revealed about halfway through the book, was AWESOME! I LOVED it so much!!! It was one of those five star moments. I loved the parts of the book including Daphne and Jackson's girls, Bella and Tallulah. Bella brought some honest kid moments, expressing her opinion without a filter. It was amusing. At first I didn't like Daphne as a character, but she grew on me and by the end I loved her!! There was a lot more to love, but those are the highlights. WHAT I DIDN'T LOVE Some parts were a bit predictable. I wasn't super impressed with some of the things Jackson did and said, he seemed like many male characters in books I've read before. Most of the characters were pretty black and white. The 'good' characters were very good, probably wearing halo's but the bad characters were pretty irredeemable. I've prefer characters with a little more grey. The end tied things up a little to nearly. I do like a clear, defined ending, but this was just a little too perfect and convenient. Don't get me wrong, I was happy it ended that way but it was just too neat of a bow on the package. OVERALL Addictively readable thriller which was more than I expected. ... show more

Wow! What an outstanding book! Great Vacay reading! Great Book club reading!
Format: Kindle
The Last Mrs. Parrish is a very unusual novel by Liv Constantine. It is told in three sections, the first section is by Amber, the second by Daphne and the third is the conclusion. I had a little trouble getting into the book at first. It seemed to be just another novel about friends. However, it soon changed gears and caught my attention and then I couldn’t put it down until I finished it. There are definitely some devious twists and turns to the story that catch you by surprise. It makes for a fantastic book. I still want to know what happens to the characters next. Daphne Parrish has it all. She has a beautiful home, two beautiful children, all the money that she wants to spend, is looked up to as the main society lady of the town, is the head of a foundation, and to top it off, has a gorgeous husband who is totally in love with her and is exceedingly rich. If that isn’t enough, she is a very nice lady in her own right. What can she possibly be missing? Well, first of all, her sister died young of cystic fibrosis and her loving father died early of heart attack. She still has her Mother; but she is tied up with running their B&B. So, when Amber shows up having lost her sister to CF too, Daphne takes her into her heart and her family. Amber Patterson was tired of being poor and unimportant. She hated working from paycheck to paycheck and wanted to be among the rich, society types. To do this, she needed a rich husband so she looked at the various women at the gym and chose Daphne Parrish as her victim. Daphne had it all and Amber wanted it. Can she sneak her way into Daphne’s life and steal her husband and her life? Can she do it without betting caught up in her friendship with Daphne? What happens if she gets caught? What happens if she succeeds? Will her life be what she wishes it to be? ... show more
