  • Hope shines even in darkness
Format: Kindle
Because life is so full of challenges it’s easy to let go of hope. Beatrice and Isaac really have to hang on when darkness reigns but that’s the only way to reach their dreams. Read the book. It’s worth the time.

  • Grace and Mercy Amidst Suffering
Format: Kindle
Beatrice has lost so much and endured so much that her faith almost waivers. Isaac has honored and obeyed his earthly father, but at what cost? Cholera rages in the area, evil people try sabotaging Isaac's plans, yet Gid brings good through all of it. Excellent story and encouragement in the face of hardship. ... show more

  • Wonderful Story
Format: Kindle
I loved this book. It is a wonderful story of how two people rely on God to help them overcome many difficult situations and see how God works things out for them. The characters are well developed and likeable. The story flows at the perfect pace. I highly recommend this book.

  • Victorian Era Christian Fiction
Format: Paperback
Finding the love of your life should be the best day of your life but all of the heartache that Beatrice has gone through makes it tough to carry on when things don’t go as planned. The setting is 1849 England, which I find fascinating, as social practices are a far cry from what they are today. My favorite character was Isaac because it was clear that he had a plan and would execute it to the best of his ability. I admire Beatrice because she had been through so much, but she was either a bit shallow or still reeling from all that life had put in her path. There was a strong faith thread, which I did appreciate. The small close-knit community of Lindenfell was charming and friendly, so I could understand why Isaac had such a strong desire to settle down there. This is also the second book in the Victorian Virtues Series, but I didn’t feel like I missed anything important because I missed book one in the series. This is my first book by the author, and she has a pretty generous backlist that will be worth checking out. I received a copy of this book from a blog give-away, and I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own. I am disclosing this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s 16 Code of Federal Regulations, Part 255, Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising. ... show more

  • A Gentle Romance
Format: Kindle
A gentle romance that reminds us that, even in our darkest times when trouble and trial mount up, God's Word is the constant to direct the path of the one whose mind is stayed on Him and believes Jesus saves and walks with us.

  • Well worth reading!
Format: Kindle
This was an intense read with a lot of heartache and struggle, coupled with shocking family secrets. Through it all the lessons of God's goodness and the hope that He gives, shines through. The author handles the question of why God allows suffering, with sensitivity and insight. Isaac & Beatrice's journey was frought with difficulties and I truly disliked Jocelyn, but God has a way of making things work out. I really liked Irene...she was a true friend to Beatrice. Sadly, there did not appear to be any change for the better in Isaac's father, but the change in Bill was wonderful. I highly recommend this book. ... show more

  • Not a romance.. it's a sermon
Format: Kindle
I'm a Christian, but I like to read romances. And I like romances with a Christian theme. But this author didn't write a Christian romance. She wrote a sermon. Over half of this book is prayers , especially with Beatrice. She couldn't say anything without praying. The best part of story was when the author wrote of Isaac. It was obvious he was a Christian, but he also spoke with people & did things in the story. Every word wasn't a prayer. One or two short prayers would have been fine. But this author wanted to preach. I didn't feel any emotion because she didn't have Isaac & Beatrice around each other long enough for me to feel anything for them when they separated & when a couple of circumstances kept them apart. The ending was good, but could have been better. ... show more
