  • Excellent Read. More intense that some of her works.
I normally think of G.L. Hill as writing stories reflecting Christian lives in the late 1800's - early 1900's. But every once in a while I discover novels with wartime spies or kidnappings or other intense topics. She does these every bit as well as she does the gentler topics. She is my favorite author; I'm glad she wrote so many books for me to read. ... show more

  • Romance and Intrigue
I am a long-time Grace Livingstone Hill fan and have read many, many of her books, This one is by far one of her best. Once started, you will find it hard to put it down!

  • Not one of her best.
I love Grace Livingston Hill, but this just wasn't one of her best. It really didn't show true salvation for the main woman, Lisle, but did show that just being a good person will not get you to Heaven. Was still worth having and reading.

  • A very realistic book and gripping book
So many young girls felt the way our Heroin does in this book. Young men without a good reason were scornewd by many when they didn't go off and fight in WWII. How telling that she dealt with this in this book. She not only deals with the romance in this book but deals with two of the realities of this war the spying issue and the social issues of dodging service. I loved the heroine and the way she builds her character. So many romances were so quick like this in this time because there was so little time and she addresses this so well in this book. I loved this book so much, having read almost all of her books I have to say this is one of my favorites. ... show more

  • Espionage & life lessons, all in one book.
Intriguing storyline, wholesome yet romantic. I can trust Grace Livingston Hill's books to deliver a good story as well as good lessons, old fashioned morals & godly principles every time.

  • Sound of the Trumpet
I really like Grace Livingston Hill's books and how she writes. Some of the words are very old-fashioned and I've had to look up a few. But the story line, you always know how it's going to turn out...but the way it gets there, ah, wonderful!

  • Good book
A good book that teaches it is right to do what will honor God . When you try to get something in the wrong way, God will not bless you.
