Simply amazing. I have to admit I refused to read this book for several months. Not because I didn't think it would be good, but on the contrary. I knew it would suck me in and leave me breathless at the end...but then I'd be craving the next book in the series without a way to scratch that itch. I finally read ithis installment when books 7 and 8 finally came out and it was well worth waiting for. This is without a doubt, in my mind, the best ZA series I've had the pleasure to read. Mister Fuchs and James have written characters that really flesh out, protagonists written on such a rich canvas of words and images that I almost feel as if I'm running and gunning with them, AR-15 and Sig Sauer in hand... I'm reading books 1 through 6 for the second time just to refresh my memory of all the events that have transpired and the writing is near poetic. I am an aspiring writer and some of the passages leave me with my jaw open and I find myself re-reading them several times just to savor the richness of the imagery and language that was put forth. Sheer poetry and prose!!! Having read a bit more (for the second go round) I wanted to add this review a day later...the author's have done what I've always felt made a good book (or movie). A bit of a digression here...my wife, bless her, is not a fan of zombie books or movies, or those with vampires or super heroes. She likes romantic books, comedies, drama etc. I keep trying to tell her, to convince her, that what makes a good book isn't the setting - it can be a post apocalyptic setting, a war setting, a family in crisis, anything...it's the characters within and what they do and what they show us that matter. The rest, be they zombies, super heroes, animals, are props to help the set the story. Into the zombie setting Mr. Fuchs and James has found a way to convey the resolve of the human spirit, the indomitable will to survive and in the end the people do it for love whether that be for the love of another or the love of humankind. I find myself drawing inspiration and hope from the men and women who populate this amazing series. The authors have that human message into this book and to this I say well done, mission accomplished!!!

No matter what the author does, I will always like the characters. This book has some action but also gives us information that hopefully is setting up for a great follow up. I really wanted to give 5 stars but I was geared up for something more when it kind of ended mid action. I definitely want to find out what happens next. Hint: Go after the girl!! You can have the girl, the kids, and the action of the job in the ZA. Love the series!!

I have just finished reading Arisen 1-8. I have enjoyed all these books and love the characters. I read the first book in a compilation and had to get all the rest one after the other. The characters are so well written and you really care about them right away. Alpha Group is totally Awesome !! It's hard to say who I liked best. Juice, Handon, Ali, Homer, and Pred !!! You become so involved with these characters that when something happens to one of them you feel for them. You learn a great deal about Special Ops, different weapons, the heart of our Country's and England's Best of the Best of the Best to help us survive the end of the world. They are well trained people who put it on the line in conditions most of us would just give up and die in. I can't wait for book number 9 to come out and will get the prequels while I'm waiting. I have found two new author's that I like and will search out other books by them, and look forward to reading them. I don't like to tell about the books I read because it spoils it for people who have yet to read them. I hope everyone gets these books. They are really good stories, really good characters except for a really bad guy living alone way far away - he will be back.....Oh No !!!! I hope everyone enjoys these books as much as I have they rock it in the book world !!! These books have everything you look for in a good book. Kind people, bad people, in-charge people, scared people, hero's.....on and on must read these books.....

Since i got my kindle last year I've been reading a ton of zombie books...really have been enjoying the freedom of downloading a book anytime i want and depending on reviews to help me with my choices. I figure the truth lies somewhere in between the good and poor reviews. I. Love. This. Series! it's awesome. The two writers collaborating on this fiction are providing readers with a unique and honest view of the love of story telling through the eyes of two authors with different styles, strengths, weaknesses and knowledge. though i do believe a little more humanity could be thrown in for good measure. what is the fight for humanity worth if there isn't anything to love or enjoy? the stories are seen through the eyes of military type people so the books are filled with non stop and i'm guessing fairly accurate information in defense and tactics. after reading these books i feel i could pick up a rifle and defend my self fairly well. lol. hell im ready to take on Fick. lol. so I'm enjoying the character development of the civilians because that is what i can identify with. i have never read a book with this amount of non stop heroics, bravery and really clever writing. just when you think a situation can't get any worse...it does! but the writers logically and carefully resolve the horrific nightmare situations without being flip or implausible or unrealistic where the heroes don't die and the weak always fail. i can only accept they can do this with team work and very different imaginations and expertise. I'm also loving the hilarious one liners! got one for ya...well it probably couldn't be shared here. oh well. lol. now get to work and bring on book 7!!!!

Up through the earlier books, Arisen is about elite operators surviving, adapting, and executing in a collapsing world. Book Six changes the framing. This book pulls the camera back just enough to show that what’s happening isn’t random anymore. Human actors are making deliberate moves. Resources, infrastructure, and territory matter. Bottom line: Arisen: Book Six is the inflection point of the series. This is where the story transitions from elite survival to post-collapse power struggle. Just as with the first five books in this series, this one was great. Fuchs writes with such skill that the characters leap off the page and right into your heart. Each character in this series has been constructed by a master. I tend to put off reading the next in the series after the completion of the one before solely because I know that I will be gripped from page one not able to lay it down until the last word on the last page is read. So I pick a day, and anxiously await for it so I can sit and read it as a whole. This is not easy because these characters have become a part of me. I am constantly wondering what will come next for them. Sometimes I make it to my planned day of reading and most times I dont which causes an all nighter reading experience. But for this series, its worth it . If you have not read this series yet, its a must for all Zombie Apocalypse fanatics. But, be sure to start from the beginning with book one. You will not regret it. I have read more books of this genre than I can possibly count but this series is my favorite and on that I will re-read many times

Just WOW. This one has the Alpha squad and Fick and his Force Recon marines onboard the B-17. They made it off Beaver Island and are headed for the JFK. Wesley and his band of survivors and whats left of the rest of his men are running for their lives trying to get back to the JFK. Wesley and his group make it to a yacht. The only living thing on the yacht is a German Shepherd dog. A dog who becomes Wesleys. A dog Handon later discovers is a Military War Dog who probably came from the Govt buildings next to where the Yacht was moored. Once Wesley and his crew get on the water they get a helping hand from a gutsy female fighter jock. The JFK is being overrun with walkers who piled up under the sea and become a platform for more to actually get on board the carrier. Coulson and his remaining marines along with anyone they could train to defend the carrier are in a world or trouble. Handon and his men along with Frick and his men are forced to bail out of the B-17. They are all shooting for the destroyer Micheal Murphy. Their primary job is to get Dr. Park out alive and back to England with his research. Fruit made two copies of that research in case Park doesn't make it and he's given one copy to Handon. Ali is in charge of Park and Emily the young girl from the boat on Lake Michigan. Ali, a very capable Ali, will do her best to get Park to the Michael Murphy. They bailed out of the falling apart B-17 in the middle of a hurricane and Handon, because of the wind, is forced to land on the carrier. A carrier that is overrrun with walkers. Handon starts taking down the walkers as fast as he can. The rest of the team followed him down and are also shooting as fast as they can. Hennon thinks Handon purposly landed on the carrier. Hennon has no liking for Handon and will become a problem for Handon before to long. So begins another damned fine read. This one has Handon, the Alpha men who disobeyed orders, Frick who headed for the carrier as well and his marines who also disobeyed orders, the JFK Captain finally taking a hand and its a hand that saves the day, Wesley and his band of survivors, Drake, a Royal Engineer named Capt Martin, Coulson and his marines, the sailors on the JFK, the guns on the Micheal Murphy, the plan to pull the JFK off the sand bar, the thousands of walking dead and one very fine kick ass read. Five Stars just doesn't cover this one. WOW
