Beautiful book with clear illustrations (some photos, some drawn), easy to follow layout. The reading level is in the range of 3rd-8th grade. If you have a 3rd grader though, they would need to be a strong reader or an adult might have to help out. First and second graders would love this book too, but would probably need an adult. A 5th-8th grader would be self-sufficient on the projects. The ingredients/required supplies are regular everyday items. This is a great alternative to screen time and the team at Highlights did an outstanding job with the instructions, which are very clear, and the art, which strives for diversity. The binding is well done, the hardcover is quality, and the paper is pleasant to touch and sturdy. For teachers, there are activities in here that appeal to the different learning styles, and on just about every topic imaginable. Some would be more involved, others might be good for subs or as rewards. This would be a good book to have in the resource room, too. As a parent and former teacher I'd give this book 10 stars if I could. ... show more
