  • Excellent series
Format: Kindle
I absolutely love this series. Bought the first book because it sounded like an interesting concept - I bought the test of the series before finishing the first. Plots are plausible, characters are always interesting, and overall amazing writing. Keep writing Mr. Wood!

  • Series keeps getting better
Format: Kindle
The opening foot chase is tight, almost cinematic. The plotting is clever, keeping you guessing. You know the 'good' guy will make it, but at times it doesn't seem possible. Deftly styled.

  • Fast Action, Lively Invention, Descriptive Writing
Format: Kindle
Victor's professional life has never been easy...and he doesn't really have a personal life! The third novel in the series, THE GAME is definitely up to the best standard of this entertaining and fast-paced series. The novel opens with a great bit of dark humor--as Victor moves on his target in a street market in Algeria, a very loud and aggressive little boy begins to hound him to buy a cheap knock-off of a luxury watch. Quite a scene ensues as Tom Wood writes both maddening humor and life and death chase in one wonderful chapter. The rest of the novel is equally tense and inventive. Fans of the series will LOVE this one and new readers can jump on-board with this novel without spoiling their chances to enjoy earlier books. ... show more

  • Superb story
Format: Kindle
This is another great entry in this series. Victor is a totally compelling central character for this sort of book. As the epitome of a cold-blooded killer, he is certainly not lovable, but he is incredibly smart and skilled in dealing death to bad guys, and occasionally shows flashes of conscience. This is a very thoughtful, riveting, and well-written book that is full of action and intrigue. I was sorry when it ended, but I'm hoping that the author will grace us with many more Victor stories in the future. ... show more

  • POLISHED ASSASSIN
Format: Kindle
Gifted authors such as Davis, Silva, Patterson and Child blend their novels with plot and dialog. They develop their characters to the point where you are intrested in where they are going next. Some writings by these giants are not quite as good as others. It is impossible for all works to be at the highest level. I enjoy almost all the work by the writers above because I love their style and the way they can hook words together. For me they are always a good read. Tom Wood's, the Game, was, for me, a good read. He took you inside the assassin, Victors, head and gave you great incite into his thinking and motivations. Wood's development of the players was just right and allowed me to get a feel for their thought processes. I would like to have seen an element of humor somewhere. Not necessarily like Davis did with Spenser and Hawk but with just a sprinkle like Paterson does so well. However Wood is a fine writer and he will get better. ... show more

  • Gotta Love Victor
Format: Kindle
Having read the previous books,I wondered if the author could sustain the Victor character without losing him to caricature. He hasn't added much to the rather one dimensional (albeit very entertaining) assassin's persona, but enough that the plot and action make you willing to wait for future books to see if he's really a one trick pony. This one is a great suspenseful read with plenty of twists and bad guys getting their due. There is also a hint of humanity displayed that makes Victor just a bit more than a nerveless killing machine. In any case, I look forward to the next one. ... show more

Another fantastic novel in the Victor series. Tom Wood has quickly reached the top of my list of favorite writers, and once you pick up book one, you'll understand.

Format: Kindle
The ending was good but it took sooooooo long getting there. It was hard to keep reading because of the dullness BUT the ending made it worthwhile.
