If you’re looking for a laid-back, casual book (or the type of author that creates those kinds of reads), then I suggest you look elsewhere because, to put it simply, author Eric Meyer constructs his books, or at least the several I’ve read so far, in a fashion that never falls short of being fast-paced, hard-hitting, action-packed, and most importantly, written well enough that it makes it hard to put the book down after beginning the read. The original book summary gives a good enough glimpse into the premise of the book so I won’t expand upon that, and really the book kind of speaks for itself so I don’t think any outside summaries/briefings that I can offer can do the type of storytelling found in “Battleground Syria” the justice that it warrants and deserves. I can’t recommend this book or author enough to any fans of militaristic reads with an added adventure/thriller genre type of feel. ... show more

"Battleground Syria" is another entertaining read by Mr. Meyers. I like the author's style. The plot is developed and the dialogue is engaging. He takes you behind the action and to the causes we too often never hear about. This story gives an in-depth, but fictional, look, into some of the methods terrorist groups use to secure finances. ISIS is looking for a new source oif money to continue waging war. The ISIS leader,Bashir al-Atassi has learned that there may be gold buried outside of Aleppo. He and his ISIS terrorist band gather a group of terrorists to search for this gold. This gold was stolen from the Jews during World War II. They get as far as Syria but are forced to hide the gold. Atassi can continue to do battle with the gold.Commander Abe Talley and Echo Six are given the assignment of finding the gold by NATO.NATO is led by General Laurent who is pro Muslim. Talley and Echo Six travel to Israel to visit Professor Aaron Lipman.They also find Dr. Sarah Shamir. She is an expert on this subject. In Brussels a bomb is set off at a hotel. Professor Lipman is killed.. They finally continue to Raqqa. Once here there is nonstop battle.The search for the gold is non stop. This turns out to be a very exciting book. Although my umpteenth Eric Meyer read (all of them), I was still compelled to read this book in 2 days. Despite the unavoidable similarities between characters and missions of any Black Ops unit, Meyer manages to provide us with exciting and compelling storytelling every time. Battleground Syria is as current and relevant as it gets. I hope we'll get to read more Echo Six stories before Abe sets up housekeeping with Sarah. Or maybe with the addition of Sarah to Echo Six! ... show more

An exciting book from beginning to end. A hard read to put aside to do other things. This Author knows how to keep the reader engrossed and always wanting more. I truly enjoy reading books by Eric Meyer.
