I bought this to use, I am trying to cut and clear a few stumps. I like the look and feel of this hatchet. It came out of the box sharp, I used it one day and afterwards I decided to put a stone on it and sharpen it up. I got it pretty sharp. I was happy with the workmanship, and the value . Overall this product is very nice and has great quality, the head was loose when I took it out of the box. So that was aggravating, I would’ve gave 5/5 otherwise.

Head was loose from the day we got it. Minimal use and the head slides up a quarter inch on a light swing. The circle wedge isn't holding anything. They might be better if done right but a basic wedge always works. Not worth the hassle. If you like the head and want to use it with your own handle, would be the only reason to buy it. ... show more

Over all look and feel were good , For its compact size worked well But feel the mount hole and handle Where not a good match or made to small and Didn't hold up well to small limbs. But took the head off a squirrel clean . Nice for the price

    • Viking inspired camping axe
I bought the Frostbreaker model for a camping trip to Yosemite. The handle is dark finish, very dense wood, with a curve that makes it comfortable and balanced to hold. The axe itself is rustic looking tarnished / dinged up steel, very tough. Size is perfect for splitting non-hardwood, and performs exceptionally well on larger pieces of starter logs. All the friends wanted to hold it and chop wood with it. It doesn’t ship very sharp, but a sharpening puck (like a stone but better) is included with it. After a few sessions I was able to bring it to a razor edge. If you’ve never used a puck before, I recommend a quick YouTube video. It’s easy, just angle the blade against the surface and make concentric circles. This little axe is bad a$$, and considering the price, I give it a 10/10. ... show more

I took this hatchet hiking, it was really good for felling dead standing trees and cleaning them up. It’s got a nice, light weight. Not too heavy but it not too light that it can’t function as an axe. I really like it for splitting firewood but it works the best for taking branches off of trees.
