Description

In her first book, interior designer Meg Braff presents the building blocks of a pretty, polished home. Everyone wants a house that is filled with grace and charm. Classic yet cheerful, Meg Braff’s style has a formality that is never studied, an elegance that is approachable and pretty. In seven chapters that cover the basics of her look, Braff shares advice on creating rooms that are both livable and attractive. In the first two chapters, she explores the key elements of her look—color and pattern—and how to employ them for maximum impact in your home. She discusses the essential elements of stylish bedrooms (hint: bring back the dressing table), explores the fundamentals of inviting baths and breakfast rooms, and gives tips on making chic outdoor spaces. Finally, Braff explains the importance of finishing touches, the little extras that elevate a room’s decor from good to great. All of her advice comes together in an overall theme of gracious living that will be warmly welcomed by readers looking to impart polish, color, and grace to their home. Lushly illustrated with vivid images of Braff ’s lively work, The Decorated Home is an inspiring, idea-filled resource that readers will turn to again and again. “Think Slim Aarons meets Technicolor elegance.” —Traditional Home Read more

Format: Hardcover
After months of anticipation I was excited to receive Meg Braff's book. I liked it so much that I ordered one for my daughter-in-law as I thought she could get some ideas for decorating her showroom at the High Point furniture market. She loved Meg's work too. I believe this is a book that speaks across the generations--I am in my late 60s and my daughter-in-law is in her early 30s. We both got ideas of things we would like to do. Meg Braff amazes me with her artful use of color and clever arrangement of accessories. This book is a keeper for sure. ... show more

  • Lots of color!
Format: Hardcover
Meg Braff's style as exemplified in her book is pronounced and very colorful. It is the opposite of understated, so just be aware. I love her use of rattan, bamboo, and traditionally inspired but tastefully updated wallpapers. The seller, Benefit Books, was great in every way.

I have many, many interior design books and this is quite possibly my favorite. I like "new traditional" design that is livable. This book hits the mark and then some. I know I will enjoy looking through it again and again!

Page after page is filled with gorgeous photos of Meg's work. It's the type of eye candy that I look for in a good quality design coffee table book. Meg also shares personal stories about her journey into design and about her family, etc. One of the better interior design books I've seen!

  • Beautiful book on the outside
Format: Hardcover
Beautiful book on the outside. Couldn't wait to settle in and open the book. While the photographs are lovely, halfway through I felt like I was looking at the same room over and over again in just different colors. I was expecting a book that had design and color ideas for contemporary, transitional, etc styles. Instead, it is basically the same room and style over and over again. The cover of the book is probably the prettiest room in the book. I'm afraid I'm returning it. ... show more
