  • We have watched this over and over for years
This movie is a favorite of myself and my daughters. This movie of good, bad, magic and consequences is one of our go to movies when the 3 of us get together. We pop popcorn, get blankets and snuggle down on the couch as we wait for the magic to unfold. We’ve been doing this for years and have yet to tire of the experience. ... show more

  • A new Blu-Ray of the cult favorite.
Released in 1996, Andrew Fleming’s entertaining “The Craft” was met with enthusiasm by critics and viewers alike, resulting in a belated, quickly forgotten direct-to-video sequel years later. Centered on a quartet of troubled high school seniors (Faruiza Balk, Robin Tunney, Neve Campbell, and Rachel True) who discover they possess supernatural talents of telekinesis and manipulation, “The Craft” explores the evolution of their powers and the resulting fallout when those “gifts” are abused. The strong ensemble cast, including Assumpta Serna as the narrative’s sage “spiritual advisor,” owner of a boutique/museum catering to the Wiccan community. Often confused with the Aaron Spelling television series, “Charmed,” this film is darker than that program, but one gets the distinct feeling that “The Craft” could have been edgier. At one point during a commentary, Fleming remarks that had he predicted the film’s MPAA induced “R” rating was earned based principally on the employment of single “F-bomb,” he would have steered the film in a stronger direction. Reusing the initial Sony transfer, Shout Factory adds new featurettes to the existing supplements, interesting but largely superficial due to the absence of new cast insights. Aside from a collectible slipcover, the remaining new extra is a second filmmaker’s commentary. Needless to say if you hold “The Craft” in high esteem, then this release will be an essential purchase (a 4K release was later released by Shout!). However, if you find these new “Collector Editions” unnecessary, hold onto the initial Sony disc, which retains one exclusive supplement-an isolated score track showcasing Graeme Revell’s ethereal, World-music tinged score. ... show more

one of my favorite movies from when I was a teen. It will never get old for me. The remake doesn't even come close to how awesome this one was.
