This is just my first impression as I haven't read it from front to back yet. Upon first flip through I was amazed how many color pics there are. They actually take up at least 1/2 to 3/4 of each page. I continued flipping expecting the pictures to stop but no, they kept on filling the pages. The only portion without pics is the "Lists" section obviously. Every pic has a written explanation and since pinball is a very visual game this book matches it nicely. I didn't want to get many books and was hoping this one would do to satisfy my thirst and I think it will. It covers all topics from the beginning history etc. I can't wait to start reading. ... show more

This is a great book to learn about the history of pinball and it's mechanisms. It covers past and present innovations in pinball plungers, flippers, coils, sound, etc. Lots of color photographs of classic machine's playfield and backglass will satisfy a pinball lover's appetite for pinball art. Certainly informative about most pinball machines. My gripe is with a book this big and thick, I should not have been able to find a number of machines not included. Not just any pictures, but no mention what-so-ever. I must say though I was educated much further about pinball machine operations then I was ever aware of prior to looking at this book. Just a little disappointed that some of my favorite machines had no mention. I am a 60's 70's pinball machine lover. ... show more
