Description

Have you ever wondered how to tell when a Craftsman tool box was made? Have you ever wondered when the different Craftsman logos were used? Have you ever wondered what company made the Craftsman tool box in the first place? This groundbreaking book will help answer those questions. Between 1945 and 1995, Craftsman offered four styles of metal, hand-carried tool boxes consisting of twenty nine different models. From those models there were over 120 different combinations of latches, logos, handles, and sizes, each providing clues to when a tool box was made. With dozens of pictures and descriptions, this book provides a reliable method of deciphering those clues to help determine the age of a Craftsman tool box, while giving insight into the company that built it. (Hint: It wasn't Craftsman!) Read more

  • Pretty Good, yearning for more
Format: Paperback
I would give the book itself pretty high marks. Quite good at helping you identify Badge type, model #, year of manufacture and style of vintage Craftsman tool boxes. I was hoping for more information on various manufactures of the tool boxes. I have read that Emerson Electric and King-Seeley made some Craftsman tool boxes but no mention of it in the book. Also, almost nothing on box interiors and tray types. Overall, still worth owning. My copy was a bit dinged up by USPS - only an Amazon bubble bag was used to ship. ... show more
