  • Great explanation of why the circle of fifth is such a big deal
Format: Kindle
I am not a beginner in music, but most of my life I've played music written by someone else. Now that i want to create my own music, I keep hearing about the importance of the circle of fifth, so i am wondering - what's the big deal? The author provides great, easy to grasp explanations. Very helpful! ... show more

  • Mystery Explained!
Format: Paperback
I highly recommend this book for beginner to high intermediate piano learners. It explains key signatures in great detail and unravels a mystery that you may have found daunting, up until now. It's a very worthwhile book to have in your library.

  • Fair. Print quality cheap, info overly complex but better than some theory books
Format: Paperback
I am a musician and it is very hard to find a good theory book. This does not have good illustration, The information is Fairly good Good. Not as good at being basic and methodological in it's development, as it gets overly complex before being basic. In other words, you can skip a lot of detail to get the basics then go bsck. I just don't like how inexpensive are it's illustrations, small and cheap print. Someine coyld make thod a hood book ny printing it less inexpensive. Books that are typed in light, thin print don't make gold reference nooks to refer bsck on. But there's not much hood out there, so I increased my rating to a 4. ... show more

  • Numerous serous mistakes!
Format: Paperback
I don’t have a music background. I bought this book to learn and am horrified. I might not know music but I can count. On page 13 the book states that a fifth can be played from c to g ascending and from c to g descending. But descending from c to g is not 7 semitones. And the pictures are wrong. It is 7 semitones descending from g back to c. But that is not what is printed or shown in the picture. Makes me feel I can’t trust anything the book says. Tossing! If I could give it a lower rating I would. People want to learn and these mistakes should have been caught. Or at least a better explanation is needed . He tells you it’s 7 semitones that make up a fifth which ascend in his counted. It doesn’t count the other way. It is confusing for a beginner. ... show more
