  • Be the Change
The Casserole Dish is a heartwarming tale that shows the ripple effect one small act of kindness can have. Amey Zeigler writes a neighborhood filled with compelling characters, and proves without a doubt that it's possible to be the change you wish to see in the world.

  • Single mom story filled with hard work, determination to be a better person, and love
When Lisa Bennigan discovers horrible things about her husband topped off with his embezzlement from their rehab business, she divorces him and relocates with her children to St Louis. Nearly penniless, her sister's husband gives her a house he inherited from his grandmother for her to fix up and sell. It's just the chance for financial stability she needs...or is it? A mid-century modern ranch that needs major rehabbing would be enough of a challenge for her to do with only her children's help. Unfortunately, the previous owner was a hoarder, and it took more than a week to clear it out enough just to uncover beds for everyone. This was a wonderful story of a determined mother and three cooperative children. The descriptions of people, places, and neighborhood problems was excellent and left the reader feeling like a part of the story. The characters (both main and minor ones) became real and interactions between them never seemed contrived. I liked the determination of these people that allowed them to step out of their comfort zones with surprising results. The problem with this book (or why I didn't give it 5 stars) is numerous typos that any editor or Beta reader should have pointed out to the author. They detracted from my reading enjoyment. I liked the story and the author's presentation of a different single mom story. ... show more

  • Had me chuckling
I was not paid for my review I willingly read this and I am offering my unbiased opinion. I loved the plot development and character development. The story line was unique and progressed well. One, of the things that absolutely drove me crazy and why I almost quit reading it part of the way through was the typos. There were many many typos. One sentence I couldn't even understand. Great concept maybe just add a couple of beta readers. ... show more

  • Inspiring!
First time reading the work of this author. Will not be my last! Enjoyed the characters and the simple yet deep message of making a difference in other’s lives. Giving others a second chance even when it seems impossible.

  • A very entertaining story
This has been a very entertaining story! Lisa, a divorcee with children move into a house to remote and sell. Then here come the neighbors, from gossipy to cantankerous until a casserole dish starts bringing peace and happiness. It won't take very long to be pulled into this story!

  • Baking Up Fun!
This is such a fun read! It's light-hearted, and I loved the characters. It has a fun dynamic cast in the neighborhood with plenty of conflicts! The backyard neighbor is such a grump! So, what happens when you have a red casserole dish? And a house to remodel? And kids that need you as the breadwinner? You might be exhausted! But is there room for love? You'll have to read to find out. :) ... show more

  • Clever idea for a book
I found The Casserole Dish an entertaining read. In fact I plan to read more books by the author. The kindness and forgiveness theme seems very appropriate during these times.

  • Very poor copy editing
This book has fun and almost believable characters and an interesting story. However, it didn't appear that anyone had edited it for errors in typing and missing words, etc. Would have enjoyed the book much more if I didn't keep coming up on the wrong word, left out word, etc. That's pretty annoying to me. If it doesn't bother you, you will likely enjoy this novel. ... show more
