The DVDs were packed well, so none arrived "bouncing" around in the package. They were sturdy and thick, not made flimsily. I was impressed with the quality of packaging and DVDs. All played perfectly.

Only saw the first film in the movie theaters. However, I am glad I purchased this boxed set...even though it has Jeremy Renner in the 3rd film. Just not a big fan of his. That being said, the films are enjoyable and have good, solid production values. Having the films predominantly based in Europe and other foreign countries, adds additional mystique and intrigue. The Bourne Complete Collection includes Doug Liman’s 2022 film, “The Bourne Identity,” Paul Greengrass’ 2004 & 2007 films, “The Bourne Supremacy” and “The Bourne Ultimatum,” Tony Gilroy’s 2012 film, “The Bourne Legacy,” and Greengrass’ 2016 film, “Jason Bourne.” The first three adapt Robert Ludlum’s 1980, 1986, and 1990 films of the same name, though they update the setting from Ludlum’s Cold War novels to take place in contemporary times, complete with contemporary technology and politics. Despite calling this the Complete Collection, it does not include Roger Young’s 1988 television film adaptation of “The Bourne Identity,” which hewed closer to the Cold War setting of Ludlum’s novel even as it changed some plot points. Though that film is not a part of the later franchise, it would have been interesting to include it as a point of comparison. In “The Bourne Identity,” Jason Bourne (Matt Damon) is found floating in the Mediterranean Sea without his memory. He finds a Swiss safe deposit box that sheds light on his past. As he uncovers elements of his past, CIA agents pursue him. Marie Kreutz (Franka Potente) aids him in learning about his past and confronting his pursuers. “The Bourne Supremacy” picks up two years later when a member of the Russian Secret Service (Karl Urban) targets Bourne. Bourne survives and believes that the CIA is again pursuing him. He learns that Ward Abbott (Brian Cox) oversaw Operation Treadstone, the program that trained Bourne, and embezzled from the program’s budget. Bourne exposes Abbott to Pamela Landy (Joan Allen), another CIA operative, while fending off the Russian operative. In “The Bourne Ultimatum,” Jason Bourne learns that a reporter (Paddy Considine) is investigating him. Operation Blackbriar, the upgraded successor to Treadstone, begins targeting Bourne with its director, Noah Vosen (David Strathairn), leading the chase. Bourne is aided by logistics technician Nicky Parsons (Julia Stiles) and comes face-to-face with the person who oversaw his programming and memory erasure. “The Bourne Legacy” was an attempt by the studio to reboot the franchise with a spin-off introducing new characters. It takes place concurrently with the events from the end of “The Bourne Ultimatum,” with Colonel Eric Byer (Edward Norton), the controller of Operation Outcome, shutting down operations and targeting agents and researchers for assassination. Aaron Cross (Jeremy Renner) survives and seeks out Dr. Marta Shearing (Rachel Weisz) for more of the behavioral modification pills he needs for his enhancements. He saves her from assassination and she helps him get what he needs to keep them both alive. “Jason Bourne” picks up some time later, with Nicky Parsons gaining access to CIA files and contacting Bourne to give him information about his past. His father, Richard Webb (Green Henry), created Operation Treadstone. CIA director Robert Dewey (Tommy Lee Jones) hunts down Bourne and Parsons with the aid of a foreign asset (Vincent Cassell) and the CIA’s Cyber Ops Division. A subplot focuses on a surveillance program in which a social media company owner (Riz Ahmed) wants to end the partnership between the CIA and his company, Deep Dream. While this collection does not include the original 1988 film version of “The Bourne Identity,” it also leaves out the 10-episode “Treadstone” television series that aired on USA Network in 2019. The show explored the origins of the Treadstone program and its agents. As part of the larger franchise, it belongs with this collection. Subsequent plans for a Bourne sequel include a possible connection between the television series and a future Bourne film. There are no plans to continue the Aaron Cross character, which is unfortunate because the character had a lot of promise even though the filmmakers never really let him stand on his own as his story takes place alongside “The Bourne Ultimatum.” The film series is a solid espionage/action film franchise evocative of the “Mission Impossible” movies as a modern American story that rivals the James Bond franchise. Damon is particularly good in the lead role and even included a fun reference to it in “Jay & Silent Bob Reboot.” This Blu-ray set includes a bonus DVD disc with special features for “The Bourne Ultimatum” and “The Bourne Legacy,” including character studies, focuses on character’s looks, action scene breakdowns, set studies, and a look at Moby’s music. ... show more
