  • A great reference for lymphatic self care.
Format: Hardcover
It's a hardback book and it arrived in pristine condition. I'm only on Chapter I, but I'm impressed by the clear explanations the author gives to lymph, something that we all need, but something that was rather mysterious to me. Lisa Levitt Gainsley is a certified lymphedema therapist and she explains the role of lymph in our physical and emotional health. I knew an older woman who suffered terribly from blocked lymph in her legs. Her legs became enormous and she secreted a foul smelling liquid that required her to bind her legs with long bandages. It was very painful for her to walk, even short distances, and she was mortified by the odor her condition gave off. I just have cankles that I want to slim down, but while I'm working on that, there are other parts of my body that I might as well work on too. That poor soul made me realize how critical a healthy lymph system is. Gainsley covers other parts of the body like the face, neck, arms, breast, abdomen, and groin and she has sketches of the various massage maneuvers. While she says these self massages can make someone look better, she insists that these techniques are for LYMPH DRAINAGE, not primarily spa care. ... show more

  • Have results !
Format: Hardcover
I had a few minor health issues in 2024, and the antibiotics hurt my body to the point that it stayed in a constant state of inflammation in my legs and abdomen. Add to that a visible acne that I have since I'm a teenager (I'm in my 30s now). I decided to give this book a try, first I used the glow up massage sequence, and tried the abdominal sequence as well as for the legs. Well the results are here. I can't deny it ! If after a first try I have results, I am curious to see what will be the long terms benefits as I continue those massages. My legs are back to normal, I still have some acne but it is a HUGE improvement from before I would say 70% clear after 3 massages sequence in a week. My inflammation overall got reduced, I feel much better. As if somewhere something was clogged, and now everything flow. The only cons, is that sometimes the explanation isn't clear or detailed enough. I wasn't sure if I did the thing correctly. ... show more

  • I use this weekly! Super helpful.
Format: Hardcover
I never do reviews, but this book was INCREDIBLE. I use it weekly, and I learned so much more than lymphatic massage. It takes you step by step through massages, yes, but also gives you the science and tools in laymen’s terms. Really fascinating. A great gift for yourself or a loved one dealing with any form of pain or inflammation. ... show more

  • Good guide for self care regarding lymph health
Format: Hardcover
A well written book, easy to read and understand. There is a lot of information that isn't really accurate but I know many practitioners still believe in the way most biological functions are described, interpreted, and taught. That doesn't take away from the important part which is all of the movements and exercises that are described and how to use them. That was really the reason I purchased the book and I just skimmed through the first parts ignoring what I have already researched and learned in that regard. The lymph is really important for good health and movement is the main part of keeping it working properly, something that in our day and age is lacking for many people. I'd recommend this for anyone wanting to learn how to self care in this regard. ... show more
