I’m a 76 year old female and have begun to be concerned about my short term memory. I have also not been able to sleep more than 3-4 hours a night lately, even after taking a sleeping pill.     • 40hz light works for helping my cognition and long term memory
This is a second unit for another room, and I like it except it doesn't have the choice to choose a more daylight color. The light that it emits is pretty yellow for my liking, but otherwise the quality of the unit seems very sound and it gives me the ability to move from room to room and still have the flicker. I noticed some reviewers found the flicker annoying, but that may have to do with placement. It should be in your peripheral vision and the flicker is far less noticeable than when looking straight at it. It also takes time to adjust to it, I think. I've noticed a marked improvement in my mom since using this. I put it in her family room as she spends 99.9 percent of her time in there. I told her it was to kill bacteria so she didn't get sick -that she must leave it alone and not touch it ---and most importantly I PUT IT ON A TIMER. It kicks on every morning at 10 and off every night at 10. She literally sounds more like her old self when you talk to her now. We've seen improvements in her short term memory as well. Prior to she would call numerous times a day and not remember calling, this has stopped as of 2 wks ago and if she does call, she now recalls previous conversations. (we've been using it 4 wks to date) I'm not expecting miracles, but even these little improvements we are so thankful for. ... show more

I bought this Aug 22, close to 2 months ago. No perceived change or improvement, but I'm not giving up yet, hence 2 stars. The jury is still out on this. I've been running it for about an hr a day, about 2 feet ahead and slightly to the side, so it's always in my vision. I have not yet added the 40Hz sound. Will report back if the 2 together make a noticable difference. I've always had irregular sleep patterns, one drug causes a night or 2 of insomnia, and I frequently get up every 2 hours. But one slight change is I'm not getting up as often lately (about twice every 4 hrs, vs 4 times every 2 hrs) Dunno if this played a role in that or not. ... show more

I am so impressed with this light. My husband with AD was getting up every hour during the night. After the very first day of using this light, he started sleeping through the night. Two nights ago he slept 9 hours straight! The only change in our routing is this light!! We have now used it for five nights and both of us are getting more sleep. The first time we tried to use it, he tried to block the flickering light with his hand. I explained to him that he should not stare at it, but let it hit his peripheral vision. I started having him do WORD searches with me during the hour we use this and he is fine. He doesn't even notice the flickering. I am waiting to see if memory improves. Still not sure if the lamp is working, will continue to review. You dont need to buy the light bulb separately, its already in the lamp, ad misleading that you needed to buy the lightbulb, wasted money on the lightbulb.
