  • Great paints!
I'm really happy with this paint set. The product dries well. It's hard to leave uneven paintstrokes and it doesn't cake up. I particularly like that they've added washes and special effects to the collection. Diluted down a bit and they flow well in an airbrush. If you're somewhat serious about miniatures (even if you're a rank beginner), this collection is worth the additional investment. And the paint names are a riot! My favorites are "necrotic flesh," and "mummy robes." ... show more

  • Perfect budget friendly miniature paints
Army painter gets a "bad reputation" among miniature painting communities but I'm here to tell you that if you're a beginner or intermediate, you're not going to care or notice the difference in brands. Additionally, army painter prices are well worth the investment to get started in the hobby. Ignore the haters, choose these paints, and start painting. ... show more

  • Great set of paints at a great price.
I like the very broad range of paints included in this kit. It is also priced fairly.

  • You need to shake these things.
Before you use these paints give them a good long shake.

  • what's in the box.
great buy based on variety of colors, effects, washes, metalics, medium and varnish. mixing balls kind of a waste since all the paints came with the balls in the bottles already... ? the paint guide and other papers included were great... all boxed well in a nice box with pictures and information all over it... my only complaint is why not include 1 paint brush, even if you charged a few more bucks. ??? its like opening a new battery powered toy at midnight on Christmas Eve and you don't have batteries... if you include just one paint brush, you have every thing you need to start painting...just a suggestion. ... show more

  • Great beginner set
This set from The Army Painter is a great start to the hobby of mini painting and war gaming. Not sure if The Army Painter recently started adding mixing balls to all of their paint sets, but all 60 bottles in the set already had 2 mixing balls in each bottle, plus the included pack of 100 spares. My set was sealed and packaged neatly, and all paints filled, so no tampering. I definitely wish there were more vibrant colors included, but for a starter set into the hobby, I’m not complaining when I can add them as I go. ... show more

  • Wanted to like this but.....
At first I thought Army Painter's competition (Citadel, Vallejo) were just overpriced (still do slightly) but after using this Army Painter kit for several minis in the last week or so I can definitely notice the worse quality in this cheaper paint. I'd say there's maybe a few bottles in here that are worth it, primarily the metallics are good. However, the rest of the normal paint is just not good quality. It has poor coverage and a very strange consistency. I used the mixer balls and shook each bottle for a few minutes prior to use and it really doesn't help when the paint is just subpar. It comes out chunky and yet it instantly becomes ridiculously thin on the wet (and dry) palette. Using it means you have to use several layers and even then the layers arent smooth at all. They become lumpy and raised off the surface. Compared to Vallejo or citadel which thins easily and spreads super well in one coat. I can literally tell which parts of my model used this paint because it looks like crap. Just uneven and visible brush strokes. If you try to use 1-2 drops of matte medium or water on these to thin them out they just pool into a borderline glaze consistency. Despite having some decent products like their spray primer, this paint just doesn't cut it even for the price. I was finding myself running to the game store to buy citadel every few days to either get shades which weren't even close to being represented in this "mega" box (seriously how many shades of horrible colors do you need while ignoring more commonly needed colors?) or to buy replacements for the poor quality colors it did have. Idk, I'd stay away but it may be alright if you have no other options or are new and want to check it out. I'm returning this though and will be happy using a lower number of higher quality paints instead. I'd also stay away from their overpriced brushes and buy some name name brand artist brushes online instead for the same price or less.... ... show more
