  • Intense workout to use, but very effective
This thing is exhausting to use. The amount of physical demand on your body just to do a small section of the lawn is wild. Fantastic workout, but my arms turned into jelly after using it for a few hours. It's lightweight and easy to use, as long as you pay attention to the instructional video on this listing. If you don't use it the way they recommend, you'll end up hurting yourself. I didn't use it for dirt removal, just dead grass removal. It did seem to do some damage to my lawn, but a part of that is likely due to the amount of dead grass we had on the topsoil. I'd definitely recommend doing this in the spring and seeding after use. It's incredibly effective and easily cuts through the dead, matted grass, but I don't know if I have the physical strength to do my entire .5 acre lot with it 😮💨 ... show more

  • strong and durability
Study build you can work the ground and thatch the handle does screw in (3pieces) just remember to tighten them down ...they like to unscrew or loosen when working the tool. I put thredlock on and fix the issue.

  • Sturdy and Effective
This tool is surprisingly sturdy (no bending) and very well-made. Assembly was easy and it works exactly as shown in the manufacturer's product video, except that in my case, it removed considerably more creeping weeds and thatch. Having a better price than similar products makes it an all-around winner. ... show more

  • Great tool!!!
I just put it together. Great tools provided for tightening the screws! Tip: Hold off on fully tightening the screws until you've set the angle you want on the tines. The tines head has some weight to it!! The handle pieces are well designed to fit into each other a couple of inches & then screw together, so the joint isn't merely flush & easily snapped. I'm going to use it to de-weed my garden, break up compacted garden dirt & dethatch patches of grass. I expect this tool will last for years. ... show more

  • Solid Rake.
Effortless drag the rake at the right angle and it picks up all the matted dead grass. Reasonable handle, works well. Using this rake is a magnitude easier in terms of effort; when compared to using the regular metal rake and/or the large plastic leaf one.

  • BE STRONG
This is a well made, sturdy rake. The only down side is YOU have to pull it. I tried this. If the rake gets a grip in the soil, it's going to be tough to pull. I found if you keep a lower angle, it is easier to operate. I must have been optimistic to think I could re-thatch my whole yard with this. I didn't send this back, it will ideal for the smaller spots that need my attention. ... show more

  • Seems great thus far
The quality is fine. It's sturdy with very good screws and nuts. Set-up is simple. And, it pulls up thatch well. A thing I will practice is doing it gently. One shouldn't press too hard because it will pull up too much if the lawn is thick with dead grass. I'll use it gently and during times when the grass is quite dry - but not during the summer heat months because that would be too much stress on the grass. I'll be doing it during the Fall, and Spring. It's like a hair brush for grass. My grass has been matted down for years, and I was always perplexed by that. With this rake, I go one direction, and then go the other direction. And could keep going around and it continues to pull up thatch. I almost filled a large 50 gallon garbage bag with only a 15' x 6' section of lawn. No wonder fertilizers and water weren't helping much. It couldn't reach the soil well at all. Now my grass is standing straight for once. I gave a very light fertilizer blend (Moorganite 5-1-1), and watered it in. I think it was just the thing my lawn needed. I did own the Greenworks electric de-thatcher last summer, but I found that too aggressive. It's electric tines whirling fast and I felt it just indiscriminately pulled up everything in it's path. Of course this manual rake will take longer, I am not in a hurry. I can do a little whenever I feel like. As Fall is approaching I will also do an over-seeding. It's silly to do any seeding unless you've dethatched - assuming you have thatch. ... show more
