  • Pentagrams carved all over
There were pentagram symbols carved all over it. My house has had a demon infestation ever since.

  • Older Model Calculator - Save the money and buy the TI-84.
If I had to choose between the TI-83 and TI-84, I would buy the TI-84 and save the money purchasing this calculator cost me. This is an older model calculator, good, but has some limitations. Functions require extra steps, such as remember to use ( ) in places that you wouldn't have to think about them with the TI-84. The space on this calculator is too small to accommodate updates. That being said, it is less expensive, and works just fine for remedial math up through College Math 80 (Intermediate Algebra). Sadly this calculator doesn't have the space to add the needed upgrades, in order for it to function as it needs to for more advanced classes. As my Math 114 Professor said... Most classes are being taught using the TI-84, so just buy that one! She was right and I did, now my 11 year old math wiz of a niece is getting this old calculator to start learning on. So if you will be taking more than a college math 80 class and don't want to drive yourself nuts by remembering to add things and do odd ball things to functions, save yourself the added expense and buy the TI-84. ... show more

  • Good Calculator--too much of a monopoly and price gauging
I bought a refurbished TI-83 from a third-party seller, and it works great for my college classes. I did not want to buy a new one since Texas Instruments charges too much for an old technology calculator. They have a large monopoly for students who go to grade schools and colleges. Since many schools require their students to buy them, they are making a killing in profits while the calculator costs only $20 or so to make. Most cell phones can do the same thing at faster speeds, but most schools don't let students use them on exams to prevent cheating. I wonder why the Federal Trade Commission doesn't stop TI's monopoly on their calculators? I do like my unit, but I wish they weren't so expensive since this technology has been used since 80s. ... show more

  • Save Without Sync Cable TI-83 Loyalists
Save a few Dollars if void of plans for Syncing with additional TI Calculator. Our Story: Upon 19th year of service my previous TI-83 aka 'Tron' quietly failed under a Full Moon or at least Night. Undergraduate and Graduate Degrees in Business Fields were made possible prior to utilization in diverse Environments across 5 Continents. Tron and I obtained Certification in Petroleum Measurement Engineering to Business Development. At Sunset, Tron was buried with full Academic and General Purpose honors upon a fiery impromptu boat, in keeping with standards for a machine, a friend, of such accuracy and reliability. Trons replacement, Tron II, has proven adept in function to design. ... show more

  • Buy a used calculator from a trusted friend, not here
Don't buy from them. First off, the batteries promised to be supplied with didn't work, so there's your first sign. I bought new batteries the next day to make sure the calculator worked, which it did... for a short time. Within a few weeks, the screen faded, odd lines began running across the screen, and eventually it became such a mess, I could only read figures that appeared in the middle portion of the screen. Changing the batteries did nothing. As a graphing calculator, it is completely unusable -- as a calculator, it is still unusable. Buy a used one from a trusted friend, not here. ... show more

  • You'll Lose it before you Break it.
The most durable calculator I've ever had. If you have just one of these calculators, 1 is all you'll ever need provided you don't lose it. You'll likely lose it before it ever breaks. I own one from 7th grade that I have now owned for 15 years. I bought yet another one in college because I couldn't find my old one. Later on I found the old one again! So now I own 2. Come to think of it....where are my calculators? ... show more

  • Too expensive
I honestly don't know why I purchased it. I only needed it for a statistic class and didn't even use it as much as I thought I would. I used the calculator on my phone more. Never understood how to use it and would always get wrong answers when using it. These things are stupid pricey and honestly if you're a college student and if your school lets you borrow calculators for exams and things like that...you're better off doing that instead of wasting your money on this. ... show more

  • Bought Used— Works perfect!
I bought this item used from Amazon. Still came through Prime shipping. HALF the price of what they're charging at the local stores. You can see on the calculator slight signs of use but who cares. I would've done that to it in a week anyway. This one happened to come with batteries in it. Not sure if that's standard but it did. It did NOT come with a cord. You can buy the cord separately if you need one (again, mine is used). I don't need one at the moment. I knew the cord was not included before I purchased it. I tried out a few things and it seems to be calculating right along. Definitely a great purchase! Thanks! ... show more
