  • 8th grade teacher's school calculator
Color: Blue, White Style: Single Pack
The calculator seems to be an exact match (except for color) of the ones used in my son's 8th grade math classes. It's the same calculator the teacher lends out. Works great. After six months of hauling it around & middle school use, my son came home to share he couldn't turn it on. Any combination of chaos at school could have traumatized it, but I called TI's customer service who helped me reset it. They suggested the reset button on the back be pushed with a paperclip to clear the memory & restart it. Worked fabulously and like new again, ready for another daily beating & hauling around. If that didn't work, the next step or alternative was the "On" & "Clear" button at the same time. Didn't have to go there:) ... show more

  • What is Wrong with the US Department of Education?!!!!!
Color: Blue, White Style: Single Pack
This technology is slightly newer than the wheel and flush-able toilet, yet our schools are still requiring the kids have one. There is a freaking free app on my 6th grader's smart phone that emulates this thing, but he's not allowed to use his phone in class. Maybe the US department of education should limit the length of contracts they make with industry partners to less than a generation!! ... show more

  • Inefficient for trigonometry...
Color: Blue, White Style: Single Pack
I bought this, but I then gave it away soon after. The deal breaker for me was that the trig functions (sine, cosine, and tangent) are not quickly accessible. This calculator requires that you hit the "2nd function" button, then hit the Pi button that has trig as a secondary function, then choose from the menu, etc. For a student that needs a scientific calculator for trig, it's best that sine, cosine, and tangent are their own buttons right on the keyboard. Edit: In regards to those who say trigonometry is not mentioned in the product description, students do complete basic trigonometry problems in Algebra 2, geometry, and science applications. The issue is not whether or not the student can complete trig functions with this calculator, it's how inefficient it is. ... show more

  • Good calculator that does that job it is meant for (Middle School Math).
Color: Blue, White Style: Single Pack
Pros: 1. excellent calculator 2. sturdy plastic construction 3. perfect for 7th grade/Middle School math 4. relatively inexpensive Cons: 1. not really usable for higher level math, so an upgrade is likely in the future well before the lifetime of this calculator is near it's end. I really didn't want to get this but this was the best choice of the recommended choices from my daughter's school for her 7th grade. I wanted to go top notch and get something that will last her not only for 7th, but all the way to college and maybe beyond. I mean, really, I bought her the "recommended" calculator last year, now this year this is the best of the "recommended" calculators, and next year, and the year after and the year after than...I know how these things work. EVERY year, I will be buying her a new calculator. Why not just get the best right now and get it out of the way so I don't have to waste time ordering/buying a new calculator every year? Well, I am still a little wary to put a $160 calculator in her hands right now (and she wants a $500 smartphone to boot)...yeah right. Show me some serious responsibility and care for the items you have and then I'll reconsider and get her the things she wants. I still have my calculators from middle school that I used in high school and then in college...and yes, they still work. Remember one thing....calculators are not like cell phones that get upgraded each and every year. The latest top of the line TI calc is the same one they have been selling for TEN YEARS...and you can still buy the same exact HP financial calculator that I bought over 30 years ago. Yeah, innovation and upgrades are not that common in the calculator industry. The only thing they do is change the exterior appears...all smoke and mirrors. CONCLUSION: If you have a kid/s going to middle school (especially 7th grade) this could be the perfect calculator to get them. Just try to get on sale...$20 is not bad, but I have seen this go down as low as $10...and that $10 savings goes a long way in buying other school supplies that you need. ... show more

  • Used this in school, still using it now after graduating
Color: Blue, White Style: Single Pack
I first purchased this product in 2013 back when I was still in school. I’ve had a lot of fancy graphing calculators and others throughout my time but this one is easily my favorite because of the ease of use and the versatility (even though it doesn’t have graphing). It is one of THE BEST scientific calculators around! Not only does it have fraction views that make it easier for you to organize fractions and equations, you can even store operations! When I purchased this on Amazon almost 10 years ago, it was my second time buying this exact calculator. My first one was borrowed by a friend and never returned (even to this day I think my friend never returned it because this calculator has wormed its way into her heart). Between the time of my TI-34 being gone and me repurchasing it, I have purchased several other calculators (Casio, other TIs) to try but they just never felt as good as this one. Eventually I decided to get it again and voila! Everything felt magical once again! This calculator has taken me through so many standardized tests (AP, SAT, and ACT). It has even allowed me to pass all my engineering classes in college and also my Fundamentals of Engineering test! I have since graduated and am a working professional now but what do you know, this calculator still sits on my desk and I use it for simple calculations that don’t need Excel, etc (it is easier and faster to use this than to pop open an app on the PC). Overall highly recommend! I really won’t know where I would be if this calculator didn’t come into my life! I love you TI-34 Multiview!!! ... show more

  • Impressive.
Color: Blue, White Style: Single Pack
As a 7th grade student, I have to do a lot of math that requires a lot of calculation. This calculator handles it really well, it is easy to use with multiple modes (i.e Classic,Math Print) and the keys don't get jammed. It has a large enough display to hold multiple calculations and overall can handle a beating. (If you consider a TI-34 calculator falling down a 1-story flight of stairs in a middle school as a beating.) Overall would recommend this for Middle School students! ... show more
