Description

Basic, battery-operated scientific calculator with one- line display and general math and science functionality. Key Features: One- line, 10-digit displayFraction featuresOne-variable statisticsConversionsBasic scientific and trigonometric functions Ideal For: General mathPre- AlgebraAlgebra 1 and 2General science Once you get to a certain level of math classes, a regular old calculator just isn't good enough anymore --you need a high-functioning calculator that can perform algebraic, trigonometric, and statistical problems in addition to general mathematical tasks. The Texas Instruments TI-30XA scientific calculator can do this for you. It is extremely handy when it comes to figuring tricky fractions. It can add, subtract, multiply, and divide fractions when entered in a traditional numerator/denominator format. This calculator can also do a variety of conversions, from fractions to decimals, degrees to radians to grads, DMS to decimal to degrees, and polar to rectangular. The display screen holds up to 10 digits. For high school or college students tackling advanced math, this is a great tool (and a thoughtful back-to-school gift), and with more professors allowing the use of calculators during classes and exams, it's a necessary one. Easy to use and easy to slip into a backpack, the TI-30XA will soon become indispensable for both the serious and the striving math student. --Dana Van Nest

  • The quality has really dropped with these calculators.
Color: Gray
The media could not be loaded. The quality has really dropped with these calculators. Very disappointed. It won't accept any input with any of the buttons, and it won't even turn off (no, it's not the solar version). I've uploaded a video to show why this thing is junk.

  • Ours does not work. Bad batch I guess.
Color: Gray
This is my first unsatisfactory review and it is hard for me to be critical. We did not open this until two days ago 06/09/2019 because it wasn't needed until now. I went to check when I bought it and found out we purchased it in September 1, 2015. Go figure. Never expected a new product not to work straight out of the package. We did all the trouble shooting and it turns on but quickly becomes not usable. My son had to go borrow a friend's calculator because he had an exam the next morning and needed a device he could rely on to work properly. I can't expect the seller to honor this even though it was unopened all of this time. But I guess the lesson here is open and check your purchases sooner to make sure they work. ... show more

  • Nice Design, Durable Quality, User Friendly
Color: Gray
Handsome design. Very solid feel. Cover too tight but I have an easy fix for that. Very easy to see or locate function keys and number keys. Key pressure has solid feel of durability. Would handle rough and tough treatment. Battery operated. Battery should last for years and calculator has an OFF key Display clear with good contrast. Has a back arrow key to delete entry one number at a time Very nice Functions like delete key and very visible and easy to locate. ( bottom left of calculator). Very adequate for algebra, trigonometry, calculus, chemistry, physics Hyp,Sin,Cos,Tan,Pi keys very accessible and visible. Purchase 600 grain or finer sand paper at hardware store. Tear off a small piece and sand the little "catches" on each side of the cover. Don't overdue it because you can't reverse the process. I did that and it slides on and off smoothly but still holds the cover on. I found that paying extra $ for faster delivery pays off! The packaged calculator travels with smaller and lighter packages gets a lot less abusive treatment. CONCLUSION Ti-30Xa is a handsome, user friendly, durable, well designed calculator that is an excellent choice for GED test, algebra, geometry, trigonometry, algebra II, calculus, physics, and chemistry. I hope this review is helpful. ... show more

  • Bought 30 for my classes, love them!
Color: Gray
I teach college math, and had an issue with some people using phones or fancy calculators that could do symbolic manipulation - basically cheating on my tests, and giving unequal tools to different people. Since I am nearsighted, I couldn't always catch it, and tired of playing police. So I bought 30 of these lovely little affordable machines - I've used one myself for years - numbered them, and take them to class on test days. Students can ONLY use my calculators. Since the calculators only do one step at a time, and only have 3 memory slots, this forces students to think and write down steps, which I like. So far the students have accepted this policy, and know it is for fairness as much as anything. There is a slight learning curve for inputs - to apply a function like ln or sin, you enter the input first - but I prepared a Quick Guide for test day, and students know they can ask for help on using calculators if they need. ... show more

  • Received newer version than advertised
I ordered the product because the image is the same as the one that I needed to replace, just note that the one you will receive is not the same as the one in the picture. It is the same number TI-30XA, but it is a newer version (see picture, the one on the left is my old one advertised in the picture and the one on the right is the one that I received from my order). It would have received 5 stars if the cover slipped on and off the same as the old version, that's my only complaint. The older version slides from the top down and the new one slides from the bottom up. ... show more

  • Not all buttons are actually present
Color: Gray
The calculator fits extremely tightly into its case. There is a small instruction card included in the case with instructions that are not actually possible with this calculator. There are several functions for which the instruction card says to start with CE/C, however there is no CE/C button. That with the lack of an ON/AC button (also listed in the instructions) makes clearing memory a chore. All actual math functions are possible with this calculator, but you really need to pay attention because of the way it orders operations which seem to defy logic sometimes. I've gone through the same problem three different ways that should all give the same answer, only to get three different exponents. I end up checking long calculations on my TI-83. I'd save your money and get a better calculator. ... show more

  • A great calculator for an excellent price.
Color: Gray
A really nice calculator - it has an "old school" keyboard that's getting hard to find, i.e., it has a [+/-] that changes positive values to negative values and vice-versa (which newer keyboards lack!). It also has a nice statistics package - very easy to enter data and get means ans standard deviations (both population or sample) without having to go through a [non-intuitive] menu stack. This one's my choice for everyday calculations - and I teach Stat and Operations Research :-) A great calculator for an excellent price. ... show more
