  • Solid, cozy, good quality investment.
Awesome sleeping bag! I did about 5 hours of research before my final purchase and I am super happy. About these bags...there are Celsius and Fahrenheit models of the same bag. It looks like the only difference is that the F model interior is made of COTTON fleece and the C model is made of POLY fleece....so this bag is going to be the higher quality model. If you are 6' tall or more, you should get the XL or XXL model (90" long) because you lose a good 10" of length with the regular model. I am 5'5 and I appreciate the extra length because you can slip your body to the very bottom of the bag and pull the front over your head, completely isolating yourself from the outside world. My intention of getting the XXL bag was to happen upon a sexy other that may not have such cozy sleeping arrangements and stuff them oh-so-close beside me in my conveniently big enough sleeping bag. This bag is small enough to not look obvious to my plan, yet big enough where two smaller people could sleep on their sides, cuddled next to each other inside the bag. There is no way two people could sleep side by side on their backs.....33" wide is sadly, just not enough. It is good for extra elbow room, which I am taking full advantage of. Teton also sells the mammoth bags that are designed for two people, but if I took that on a trip with me, I would be looking pretty desperate, not to mention, they are huge to carry around. This baby is warm....I got the 0 degree model for my 40 degree campouts because these companies are all exaggerators. I was snugly warm, and not too hot at the same time. One altercation is that the bag does not zip at the bottom, making it near impossible to use as a flat blanket. It does, however have a seam at the bottom so I think I will rip this baby apart and sew on some velcro so I can open it up all the way. The sack that contains the sleeping bag is awesome. You can actually put the sleeping bag back inside after removing it and it comes with straps to shrink the size down a bit. It's also water-resistant, but I would spray it down with some repellant if I was planning on giving it a good soaking. What more can I say? Great price, will keep you warm and cozy, my guess is down to the 20's. ... show more

  • Fantastic sleeping bag! Fantastic sleeping bag!
This is my third teton gear bag. It is warm, the zippers are real ykk zippers & are very smooth. This bag is thick, plush, warm, the flannel lining is soft. The ripstop nylon outer shell is heavy duty and water resistant. The velcro keeper at the top of the zipper securely keeps the bag zipped. No slip. The draft tubes around the top edge & the zipper do an excellent job. These bags are high quality & well made & a very good buy at this price point. One more protip/life hack: take some 550 paracord & make yourself some zipper pulls. It makes finding & using the zippers so much easier, especially in the dark or with mittens on. The stuff sack works well and is also water resistant. This bag is big. Really big! Lots of room and very comfortable and warm. This is perfect for car camping, paired with a good sleep mat/pad. ... show more

  • Excellent Cold Weather Bag (with a few minor caveats)
OVERALL IMPRESSION Well-constructed bag - highly durable canvas outer shell and comfortable lining (that can be removed for washing). I tested this bag down to 0 on a winter camping trip - I actually had the bag 3/4 unzipped and I was still warm. It's a heavy bag - so, really only useful for car camping. I'm 6'0" / 235 lbs and I toss a lot when I sleep, so I was a little concerned whether 39" would be wide enough. So, I've only used it unzipped (in zero degree weather) and it was generally quite comfortable and warm (see below). SOME SPECIFICS Shell - durable canvas, but everything is single-stitched and I'm wondering how that will hold up over the long term. Lining - very comfortable flannel cotton, with velcro tabs for easy removal. Zippers - medium size synthetic material that glides quite well. No sticking or grabbing the liner so far. Velcro Tabs (at top of zipper at head of bag) - thoughtfully added extra velcro on the tab, so that, if you're not using the tab to close off the bag at the end of the zipper, you can fold the tab back on itself so that it's not scratching you or the bag. COMFORT FACTOR This is a really thick bag (both bottom and top). So, sleeping on any kind of uneven platform, pebbles, twigs, etc. will not be a problem (I only used a 1/4" foam pad underneath) - feels like a moderately firm mattress. COMMENTS ON SIZE Generally, adequate to more than adequate for someone 6'0" / 235. However: - the hood section (extended bottom piece used to place pillows, etc. is only about 12". - the inner usable volume (max space between the top and bottom is adequate for my size, but not overly spacious. I didn't feel claustrophobic, but I did leave the bag unzipped. Note that there is a trade-off on this design issue - the more space there is to toss and turn, the harder it will be to stay warm. So, if you're in my size range, I think this bag will be fine. TEMP RATING I don't understand manufacturers' temp ratings. I tested this at just below zero with the zipper undone (in a good tent with no wind), so I would assume it's good to about 10 below (with the zipper up). On the flip side, I wouldn't use this bag for anything above 25-30 degrees - it would be a sauna. This is strictly a winter bag. CAVEATS Because the outer shell is fairly stiff canvas and the width is 39" there is no real closure around your head, so there is some exposure to cold around your neck and shoulders. I thought this would be a real problem, but it certainly didn't affect my sleep - overall, I was very warm and comfortable - because it's a heavy bag, the cold didn't extend down to the rest of my body and it's still a 90" bag, so you can slide down and only your head is exposed. There is a drawstring around the head section, but it's not very useful (stiff canvas). So, don't count on that if you really need to close off the head section. The warranty is voided if this bag is machine washed (liner is removable for washing). I can't imagine washing this by hand. So, keep it clean. BOTTOM LINE A keeper for the winter. ... show more

  • Beats a mummy bag with some improvements it would be the go to bag even for expeditions.
This is by far the best sleeping bag I've ever owned. I've used various other manufacturers mummy style bags with more distaste for mummy bags than most. I chose the Celsius XXL after reading a review about the regular sized Celsius. I'm impressed by the capacity of this bag. I was able to wear my clothing as well as a heavy hoodie and a heavy coat inside this bag and was still able to move around inside the bag. For the -25 rating that I purchased, this bag is reasonably lightweight for a non-down bag. It is LARGE when put in the stuff sack that was sent with it. This could be because of the amount of insulating material they had to use to reach the temperature rating they rate it at. When laid out, this thing has more loft (thickness) than a good many expensive comforter sets for beds. Now for the downsides I noticed. Yes the zipper will slip if you don't zip it up all the way and use the provided Velcro zipper stay strap. It's a shame that Coleman doesn't license their zipper plow to anyone. This bag could use that as well as sometimes you'll catch the zipper on the draft tube near it. Next up is the so called hood for your head. To me this was more of an afterthought than anything. It may work for taller people but I find it totally useless. By far, my largest beef is about not sending a proper compression bag with this bag. Yes, I can stuff the sleeping bag back in the manufacturers stuff sack with a bit of fighting. And that's after folding the sleeping bag in half to begin with. The overall design of this bag is quite good at this price point. I paid less than a third of what a good goose down sleeping bag costs with the equivalent warmth. I prefer the fiber filling this bag over goose down as the goose down ones tend to loose loft and insulating qualities over time. Faster than this bag will. There is room for improvement, but I'm loving this sleeping bag so far and I've had it out in 32 degree weather so far. I hope to see how it does at colder temps. Update: I've since used this bag for a few days at 40F and below. All I can say is toaster warm. No issues with cold spots whatsoever. I've also gotten a compression sack for this other than the manufacturers stuff sack. Two reasons behind it. 1. Manufacturers bag was not a compression sack and wasn't able to seal both ends of the stuff sack from moisture. 2. Material on the manufacturers bag was thin and most likely not last the length of time the actual bag will. Even with an aftermarket compression bag, this sleeping back does not compress all that much. It's that big of bag. ... show more

  • A good sleep investment
Color: Green (left zip) Style: Xxl 0f
I worked up to this product. Wanting to stay as compact and light as possible for backpacking, I started with light tent, a fleece blanket, a full set of warm clothes, and a pad on an exploratory trip, and that only renewed my familiarity with chattering teeth. Then, on some cold nights in the back yard, I tried sleeping with a wool blanket instead of fleece, after which I switched to two wool blankets, both folded to a double thickness, still wearing the full set of warm clothes. That was almost comfortable, but not quite. Finally, I repeated my experiment with only one layer of light clothing, this sleeping bag, and a pad. The temperature was only a little below freezing, so I needed to unzip the bag and stick my toes out to cool down a little. On my recent trip to the hills, using a pair of these bags with cots, both my daughter and Ihave agreed that our experience was very comfortable, with temperatures going well below freezing by morning, although perhaps not quite as cold as 0 deg. F. My bare feet got slightly cold, but not enough that I did anything about that on two different nights. If I were to put on some socks, I might only have become too warm. I would give these bags full credit for being adequate near the advertised temperature, as well as spacious and comfortable. Also, there was some dripping condensation in the tent and at times some wicking from rainfall on the tent walls, which contacted the sleeping bag and made parts of it wet, but the water-resistant shell helped a lot, and dampness near the edges still did not interfere with a warm sleep. While I have not used this bag for backpacking, it is reasonably light in weight. Although a bit bulky and large in diameter when packed away, it could be attached to a pack without much trouble, and its thermal qualities are a step up from carrying equivalent warmth in the weight of wool blankets. With some further care to stay dry, and maybe keeping a thick jacket and long johns handy just in case they might help, I don't mind the idea of taking these bags out to the snow. This product is definitely able to solve most of the warmth issue, and often all of it. ... show more

  • MUST HAVE
Color: Green (right zip) Style: Xxl 0f
First of all, if you are looking for a good, solid, and high quality sleeping bag then look no further. This is so comfortable and very roomy. I chose the olive green color and it looks awesome. Pros: 1. Soft interior 2. Nice size and plenty of room to move around. 3. The mummy style head rest is good and big for a pillow to keep it off the ground. 4. The length of the sleeping bag is awesome. I'm 6'2" and I still couldn't touch the bottom of the bag. 5. Easy to pack back into the drawstring bag. 6. The bag it comes in is good and sturdy. 7. The price for this sleeping bag is perfect since you get a good quality, over sized, and comfortable bag. 8. Keeps you very warm without making you sweat or stick to the inside liner material. 9. Has pockets on the inside for valuables. (I like that I can keep my keys, etc by me and not worry about them getting lost.) Cons: 1. Although the zipper isn't supposed to snag on the inside liner mine still snagged every now and then. 2. A bit heavy for backpacking. 3. It would be nice if the bag came with straps so that you can roll it up and strap it tight so that you don't have to 'stuff' it back into the carrying bag. (still not a huge deal, just a suggestion). Overall I love my sleeping bag. I take it wherever I go in the back of my truck because you never know when you'll need it or if you'll go on a random camping trip. Stay active my friends. ;) ... show more

  • Good for my intended use, not every use. Good for my intended use, not every use.
Color: Green (right zip) Style: Xxl 0f
Quality is great. Size is big of course, which is what you are after if you are considering this bag. Now let me state me intended use for this bag is backyard camping with the kids in cooler weather, some car camping, and cabin camping. For serious backpacking in cold weather I have a Marmot 0 degree down mummy bag. I didn't expect this bag to perform as well as my Marmot (it doesn't). However, I gave it a good test last night and it performed well despite some limitations inherent to a bag this big. I set up a for with a 3/4 inch foam mat and unpacked the bag for a few hours inside, a luxury not afforded on a backpacking trip. Low was predicted to be 19F. Just before 10 p.m. I climbed in. I had two full size pillows, one for my head and one for my knees. I tried the draft collar at first, but it was awkward with the full size pillow so I quickly abandoned it. I was initially impressed with the warmth, especially around my core. I awoke at 4:30 with a chill in my feet and a full bladder. I checked the temp on my phone and it said it was 11 degrees. I got out to pee which cost me a lot of warmth. I got back in and out my knee pillow under my feet and they were much warmer. I was a bit chilled until I got up at 7:30. Why 5 stars if I got cold? Reasonable expectations. The places I got cold were the bottom where the insulation is compressed. The pad wasn't quite up to the task. Also to be expected with so much interior room every time you toss and turn, cool air enters. That is going to happen with any roomy bag. There is also a lot of air space that you have to heat up. So for backpacking in really cold weather, this is not a good choice. But that's not what I got it for. It does however, fit in my backpack's sleeping bag compartment. I posted some comparison photos of my two zero rated bags. What you can't see is the difference in price which was significant. Update. I set up my tent, used two pads, and merino base layer. It got down to 3 degrees Fahrenheit. I made it through the night, but was pretty chilled. It's just because of the volume. Every time you toss and turn, the bag "breathes" and cold air is pulled in. I am still 100% satisfied, and if you are buying because you need the size, it will be warmer. If like me, you wanted extra space, it will be cooler. ... show more
