  • Decent but unstable af as a stand alone tent
Color: Green Size: 1 Person
Lightweight and sized for one, this is a nice enough tent that will surprise you by how incredibly unstable it is in the lightest of breezes.

  • Easy and fast setup. Easy and fast takedown
Color: Green Size: 1 Person
Just used this tent on a four day three night 25 mile backpacking trip on North Manitou in Lake Michigan. Great tent that works great on the trail. I will probably buy more for my other kids.

  • Great solo tent!
Color: Green Size: 1 Person
I’m really impressed with this tent! In my almost 30 years of backpacking, I’ve never seen a tent of this quality at this price! I was a bit wary because I was not familiar with Teton Sports. After doing some research, I thought, “what the heck, I’m gonna try it out.” The next day I got a return phone call from the owner herself reply to a message I left, inquiring about the company. Little did she know I had already purchase the tent. Her call sure did make me feel secure with my purchase, Excellent customer service! Now, for the quality. The poles and the attachment points are solid. Seriously, the attachment points are not just some grommeted webbing, they are billet aluminum, along with the pole junctions. I love the red accents on the junctions and it makes it really easy in low light to assemble. These features are rarely found on tents of this price. I have owned multiple tents and this solo tent can hang with any tent 4x the price. I tested this on top of Springer Mountain, Georgia where it is normally socked in by clouds and routinely gets 30 mph gusts. This tent vented pretty well seeing I was sleeping in a moist mountain cloud most of the night. Using the guy lines made this tent very sturdy. I thought I was going to need to add two guy lines to the side points of the fly, but I was wrong. They pulled out nicely, even formed 2 small side vestibules. I’m not sure that was intentional but maybe on their need generation, Teton Sports could ad a small zipper on the side just above the mesh/floor hem for access. It would add a little weight but not much and you could have more valuable vestibule space. The tent got a lot of attention from multiple AT thru-hikers. After, telling them of my interaction with the owner and the obvious quality of the tent, all of them gave it 2 thumbs up. To sum it up, this tent is really nice. I like to support small businesses and really hope they’re around for a long time. Show Teton Sports some love and buy this tent! I promise you will not be disappointed! I look forward to testing/reviewing a sleeping bag in the near future. Keep up the good work TS and remember to never sacrifice your quality, we are literally depending on you! ... show more

  • High quality, lightweight and compact
Color: Green Size: 1 Person
I’ve been wanting a small individual tent for overnights and weekends, and this tent turned out to be perfect. It’s small when packed up and lightweight, so it is easy to pack and carry, but it not compromising its performance or size when set up. Putting it together is simple and quick and the rain fly gives you added protection from the elements. They sell it as a 1-2 person tent and being more than 6 foot tall it’s fine for just me, but a little small for two. Your mileage may vary if you’re shorter than I am. ... show more

  • modern, lightweight tent
Color: Green Size: 1 Person
This tent is awesome! It is exactly as described. It's a modern, light weight tent, perfect for backpacking or day camping. The top feature for me, is the exposure to nature when the rainfly is off, yet protected by the netting from bugs. I camp with my daughter and we fit comfortably inside with our stuff. There are two pockets for gear. Assembly is simple and hassle free. The zipper was smooth, my 7 yr old daughter to get in and out of the tent with ease. The color is true to lime green. ... show more

  • Easy setup, good features, comfortable, sturdy construction
Color: Green Size: 1 Person
TL;DR: Great tent for casual solo backpacker, can be as light as 48.0 oz, but not "ultra-light". Quality construction, easy to pitch. For readers with longer attention spans: I'm a tent geek. I love tents, tarps, and other types of shelters. I've had all kinds and can never seem to get my fill of different options. Until getting this tent, my "lightweight" solo shelter has been a silpoly tarp with a Tyvek ground cover. In iffy weather or places with night time creepy-crawlies, I use either a Marmot Limelite 2P or an REI Half Dome 2+ tent and just deal with the extra weight (generally about 5 lbs). I was thrilled to get my hands on this tent, as it is my first 1P tent that isn't a bivy sack (which I hate for reasons I'll outline below). After a 4-day hunting trip with this tent where we stayed in both a developed camp ground and also backpacked into the back country I am left with a very favorable opinion. First off, tents are ALWAYS a compromise between everything desirable and weight. You want more space - it costs weight. Want a freestanding tent - that takes more weight. Want something that will last many seasons of use without ripping and falling apart - that will cost weight. You get the idea... In my opinion, this tent strikes a great compromise between lots of desirable features and reasonable weight. At a total shipping weight of 60.2 oz it is NOT an ultralight shelter, but it is still considerably lighter than my ~5 lb 2P tents. By eliminating the stuff sacks for the tent, poles, & stakes and replacing the 11 included shepherds crook stakes with 6 MSR Groundhog mini stakes, my "packed weight" for this shelter is 53.1 oz . If I also eliminate the footprint, I drop another 5.0 oz to have a total packed weight of 48.0 oz which is very light considering that this is a $150 tent with some very nice features. The 20D nylon makes it light weight and reasonably sturdy. The rain fly provides coverage all the way around to the ground, which means that this tent will be usable in windy conditions, especially if the sides are also staked out. PItching the tent is very easy - I did it for the first time in the dark without looking at the directions and it took about 10-15 minutes. The only tricky part is that there are some parts that are direction-specific, so I do recommend reading the instructions. (there are two "hubs" where the poles join and they have a knob that needs to face DOWN in order to engage with a clip on the inner part of the shelter (see photos). My second pitch took about 5 minutes during daylight. Process for pitching: 1. Using the reflective line loops, stake the two corners at the foot end (stake both the footprint and inner mesh shelter together matching the red tabs if using the footprint) 2. Pull the red corner 90º from the foot and stake it, then pull the last corner parallel to the feet and stake it. 3. Assemble the poles with so that the round knobs on the red hubs face DOWN and lay it on top of the shelter with the wider portion of the poles at the head end. 4. Starting with the corner with the red tab, insert the end of the poles into the aluminum clips on both the mesh inner and the footprint, then go to the other head end, repeat, and then do the same on the foot end. The poles should now form a free-standing frame. 5. Begin clipping the mesh liner to the frame using the clips along the seams. Be careful to orient the two round clips so that their mounting tabs aren't twisted. The center clip is the trickiest (and most ingenious) - it needs to come from underneath the cross-pole and engage it by rotating 90º to engage and lock the cross-pole in place. 6. Lay the rain fly over the frame, orienting the red tab to the other red tab(s). Using the velcro straps inside each of the 4 corners, attach the fly to the frame. Loosen the line locks at each corner then put the loop end around each of the four ground stakes, taking up slack in each corner as you go (but don't tighten completely yet). 7. Make sure the fly is zipped up, then take two more stakes and stake out the vestibule - just tight enough to be taught (too tight and the zippers will bind). 8. Now go around and snug up each of the four corners using the line locks. One thing to note is that because this shelter is nylon, it will sag if it gets wet. If you experience rain (or heavy mist/dew) you'll need to snug up the four retention lines (and possibly re-stake the vestibule) to prevent sagging. General usage and comfort: In my quest for ultra light shelters I once tried a "bivvy sack" type shelter. These are essentially a tube with a hoop at your feet and a hoop at your head, and you stuff your sleeping system inside the bivvy sack. I HATE them for a couple of reasons: 1. You don't have enough room to sit up and read at night, or any room to stow small odds and ends. You cannot change clothes inside a bivvy, so you are 100% exposed to the elements unless you are in your sleeping bag. 2. If it rains, EVERYTHING except your sleeping bag gets wet, And it is almost impossible to get in or out of your bag without the bag getting wet and your base layer getting wet (or whatever you're sleeping in). 3. They don't usually breath very well, so they build up condensation and get "muggy" in hot weather and "clammy" in cold weather. This Teton Sports shelter has none of these disadvantages, while still being *almost* as compact as a bivvy sack. With this shelter, you have ample room to sit up and read, change clothes, take care of hygiene-related stuff in private, etc. There is also room to throw your outer layers at the foot or head so that they stay dry and close at hand when you're ready to get dressed in the morning. There is also enough volume in the shelter and vents at the top so that you don't get moisture build-up inside while sleeping. I found that if I pitched the tent 90º to the prevailing breeze and then staked out the sides of the rain fly and opened the vents, I got a very nice flow through the tent when we were at low elevation and relatively warm conditions (down to the 40s at night). At higher elevations, I pitched it with the foot pointed toward the prevailing wind and was able to leave the top vents open all the way without feeling like I had too much cold air blowing through the tent (temps down to the mid 20s). Overall I really like this tent - My only complaint at this point is that I wish the color was more muted - I'd prefer a more natural "foliage" green color as opposed to the "lime green" color. That being said, the reflective cord loops at each of the stake-out points is a very nice touch as is makes the tent very easy to walk around at night without tripping on the stakes. The included guy-out lines are also reflective and include nice quality line-locks. I would imagine that fully staked out and pitched correctly, this shelter could handle high winds pretty well (40+ mph) as the construction is very good, the pole system is quite robust, and the attachment points for the guy-out lines tie directly into the main fame parts that would take stress during high wind. Highly recommended. ... show more
