We spent a week camping on the California coast. When we received the tent about 3 weeks ago, we did set it up in the backyard to make sure we got the hang of it. While it was setup in the yard, I also applied ScotchGuard to all the seams as I do with most of my outdoor gear. One of the things that help with packing this away: When I unpacked it, I took photos along the way so we would know exactly how to refold things so that they fit back into the bag. That worked out really well. What also helped is that the Cole tent bags are a little more generous than the Coleman's. Coleman tent bags, sleeping bag sleeves, etc are always very tight. The Cole tent fit in snugly, but you don't have to wrestle with it. Rain: We did get about 1/4" of rain on one of the nights we were there. The tent held up fine with no leaks. After the rain ended, the wind came. there are some air vents on the ends of this tent which I closed so that the wind wouldn't come in. It felt very sturdy with in the wind. I used my own metal "spike" tent stakes. Negative: this is advertised as a 10 person tent. OK, maybe 10 small people without any gear. This is an industry-wide problem with several manufacturers of tents. We had 3 adults and one teen-ager, with gear, with plenty of room to spare. It's really great that the walls are straight - it adds alot to the space. We plan to take this to the Sierra's in the late summer, so we'll update this review upon our return. It’s very roomy and well built for 4 person and plenty of room for gear. It’s small enough to put in your trunk or car, meaning it’s not bulky when packing up. I wished I had purchased this as my first tent. Highly recommend if you’re in the market for a tent.

This tent has a great amount of room for two people. It definitely takes two people to set it up, but fairly easy to do. Plenty of room inside, even if you have a queen air bed in it. I was camping when it rained significantly overnight, and the tent did not leak, except for some water droplets that appeared where there st the open air intake vent at the bottom of one side of the tent. My daughter loves camping and my wife dislikes it. But when I popped this bad boy up, she said she no longer minds it. This thing is huge. My buddies call it the Tent-Mahal. It's like a mini studio apartment inside. I love the roominess and ability to stand up comfortably in any corner i'm 5'10" and have plenty of room to spare up top, the peak is high enough for me to tippy to to barely touch. Setup is fairly easy but due to the size, having two folks is helpful. Only really lacks one star due to it not being a all season tent, the rain fly helps for sure but moisture does build up on the inside. Walls are relatively thin so doesn't hold heat very well but does help with not over heating and breathability (we used a Mr Buddy heater inside. And not much light blocking ability. Would not use it for any type of winter camping. It would have been nice to have a few extra loops/hooks inside to hang lights or have a few extra pockets for items but that's just personal preference. And the door zippers, though I understand the functionality of the design, it's a little cumbersome to zip and unzip especially in the dark. Overall, great size, great tent. We fit pretty much a play area for the kids at night and comfortably fit a queen size air mattress inside. ... show more

Bought this tent last year at the end of camping season to replace our Coleman straight wall. We have used it twice so far and it's fantastic. Set up is a breeze, however, since I am on the shorter side it is a struggle. I have a retractable snow brush that I use to hold the ceiling up while the kids put up the side poles. Absolutely love the air intake flaps-they really work! Had no issues with interior moisture buildup at night. Window/roof mesh is fine enough to keep out the smallest bugs. The tent is sealed well and I have yet to see any wear and tear. Had our first heavy rain and no leaks! Watertight all around. Nothing worse than snorkeling in your tent! I will say the door zippers do get stuck quite a bit but that can simply be remedied by using two hands- one to zip and the other to keep the path clear. Also, we cannot utilize the gear loft as I simply cannot reach it. Overall this tent is huge and I absolutely recommend it. Glad I took the time to research and read reviews. Great buy! ... show more

I decided to upgrade to this 10 person tent for my family of 5. It is very roomy, with plenty of floor space left over for our stuff even with three twin and one queen inflatable mattresses inside. Head room was terrific, which made the interior very airy and pleasant. My 15 and 13 year old sons set up the tent without any issues. It went up quickly, using three rods for the top and six rods for the sides. Getting the side rods into place took a little effort, but they were nice and secure once in their spots. As other reviewers noted, the stakes are cheap and should be upgraded because they can pull out too easily or rotate and allow the tie cords to slip out. It rained most of the time we were camping and we didn't have a single leak. I would not use this tent for cold weather camping because the side air vents do not seem to close. I bought this tent on May 28, 2023. Today is April 11, 2024 (10 1/2 months old). My wife and I use it to house our hot tub. The tent is beautiful and very roomy, however, you won’t believe the condition this tent is in. Torn and tattered from wind, rain. I can tell you with great certainty that a Coleman Instant tent will last almost 3 years before it’s in this condition, because it did last that long. Coleman tents aren’t as nice looking, but most definitely higher quality. I do expect to replace these every couple years or so, but not every less than a year. Unacceptable.
