Does the hot iron work as well as a regular size? No, but it works perfect for a travel iron. I have a lot of airport travel trips. The iron packs easily is the smallest carry-on and works well enough to straighten my wavy hair to make thru the longest days of meetings.

I got this when it was on sale for $10, and was a steal! It's so much smaller than my normal flat iron, which will save a lot of space in my luggage. It heat up very fast and works perfectly. My hair is thin, so it might be harder on very thick hair. You do have to be careful because it is so small not to burn hands or pinch them (just be careful with placement). I guess I could use it on my hair, but that is not what I bought it for. I use it in my needle felting. I had been using my full sized flat iron, but it could not do small things. This is good for traveling as it's light weight. It is small but works OK for fine hair and de-frizzing on the go. My only complaint is that the 6' cord is bulky and heavier than the straightener.
