Description

Trash bins can be notorious for attracting unwanted pests, but with the TERRO Garbage Guard, you can make sure your garbage cans are protected. This solution is great for outdoor trash cans with lids and wheels, keeping them protected all summer long. TERRO Garbage Guard tackles a variety of flying and crawling insects, such as flies, maggots, and roaches, which commonly infiltrate trashcan environments. By releasing a deeply penetrating vapor, the pod exterminates both visible and hiding insects, while also preventing new infestations from taking hold. Each TERRO Garbage Guard lasts up to four months thanks to its controlled release technology. Say goodbye to maggots and bugs swarming your trash can or garbage can. With the easy-to-attach adhesive backing, the pod fits seamlessly inside your trash can lid, providing discreet and uninterrupted protection. As you close the lid, the vapor begins its work, protecting your trashcan from common pests. Utilize TERRO Garbage Guard in outdoor or garage trash bins, dumpsters, and trashcans.

  • Works so well!
Style: 1 Pack
I was SHOCKED how well this tiny thing works! I live in an HOA so our trash cans have to stay in the designated area which is just a couple feet from the front door and with a cat and dog to clean up after in the Florida heat, ew. After seeing maggot #482, I decided to try this. Idk what kind of witchcraft is in it but it doesn't really have a smell/odor yet keeps ALL maggots and flies absolutely away. Gone. No where to be seen. I did have an issue with it sticking with the included sticky things so I ended up cutting a command strip in half and using that instead with no further problems falling off. After about 8 weeks, I unfortunately knocked the device off when breaking down a piece of particle board furniture but the shoo fly power hadn't deminished any at that time so I feel very confident in ordering another. ... show more

  • Very Good Product - Does What It States.
Style: 2 Pack
It’s pretty hot here in Florida, and the garbage cans are prone to having hundreds of flys around them. This is the third ‘Garbage Guard Pest Strip’ I’ve purchased off Amazon, and over all I am very satisfied. They indeed solve the problem, work very fast, and flys are no longer an issue. Not sure if they last for the claimed four months though, because mine always come unstuck after about six weeks by the garbage truck when it shakes the garbage can to empty it. But for the price, six weeks is pretty good. A couple of little criticisms though. Removing both pieces of paper on the sticky thing that holds it onto the garbage can lid is a pain, and it takes me ages to do. Maybe add a tab or something, so they are easier to remove. Also, as mentioned above, they fall off prematurely. For me, they would be much better if a stronger adhesive could be used. ... show more

  • Keeps Bugs Out—Just Secure It Well
Style: 2 Pack
I placed the Terro Garbage Guard (T801SR, 2-pack) inside two outdoor trash can lids, and bugs dropped noticeably within a day. The sticky pod masks odors and attracts bugs away from garbage, and it's passive—no messy sprays or chemicals. Be sure to clean under it before mounting so it sticks better; mine popped off after a week and fell inside the lid. Adhesive isn’t the strongest— I ended up using heavy-duty double-sided tape. Without reinforcement, it’s easy for the pod to fall in or get dislodged. ... show more

  • Works fast and well
Style: 1 Pack
We noticed a fast and unwelcome influx of flies in our garage near the trash can during this particularly warm summer. This product arrived fast and was relatively easy to apply - the product has a sticky side that applies to the inside of the trash can. The sticky tape was a bit tough tog et off if I'm being honest, but the product worked fast and effectively. We noticed nearly all the flies were gone by the next day. ... show more

  • Hard to keep them on the inside lid.
Style: 2 Pack
This product works great! The are no insects in my trash can anymore. However, the sticky tabs that came with the product were only sticky on one side and I am having to hot glue the strips to the top of my trash can lid. They fall off at least once a week. Please update your sticky tabs!!!!

  • How the Terro T800 Garbage Guard Saved My Roof (and Marriage)—One Maggot at a Time
Style: 1 Pack
PICTURE THIS: I walk outside into the darkest of nights, carrying the days trash and armed with a simple flashlight. I spot the trash bin, shine the light, and TO MY HORROR is see that it is completely covered in maggots! Being the valiant knight that I am, I called my wife to be a witness to this horror. She stepped outside into the disgusting maggot filled world and immediately made the decision to grab a gas can and burn it all down! I stepped infront of her and my heart stopped. My wife glared. And I, in sheer panic, found myself awkwardly bargaining, “What if I just burn the trash can?!” Cue the smell of smoke… or was that terror? Then I discovered the Terro T800 Garbage Guard Trash Can Insect Killer—an unsung hero in pest control. This compact pod (treats up to 50 cubic feet) adheres to the inside of trash bins or dumpsters, releasing a silently potent, odorless vapor that penetrates deep to kill flies, roaches, maggots, beetles, and forest reserves of teeny trash‑can critters. It’s controlled-release technology at its finest, long‑lasting up to 4 months. Installation? So easy even my trash-phobic self managed it—just stick the adhesive strip (best to clean the lid first), pop it inside, and close the lid. No residue, no fuss. The result? A fly killer, insect prevention, maggot deterrent all in one tidy, odorless package. I slapped that little pod into the can, held my breath, and… watched the maggots vanish. It was like someone hit the “reset” on trash infestation. My wife stopped drafting the fire permits, I stopped sweating actual flames—and tranquility was restored. In short: Compact and easy-to-use insect killer for trash cans, outdoor or garage Deep-penetrating, odorless vapor kills and prevents pests Treats large bins (up to 50 cu ft) with just one pod Lasts up to 4 months—“set-it-and-forget-it” bug defense Pure comedic relief: no more maggot horror scenes, no more kitchen arson threats So if your garbage can becomes the next maggot incubator, skip the lighter and grab the Terro T800 Garbage Guard—your odorless, fly-killing peace-maker. Trust me, marriage counseling (and fire insurance) will thank you. ... show more

  • UPDATE: Product does work!
Style: 2 Pack
UPDATE 8/10/25: After having this product for almost 2 months, I have to change my view on the "garbage insect killer" today. I started noticing that the maggots are no longer there. The flies keep coming, but no maggots are being made, so I am happy that we have this product installed in our organic garbage can. And in my case, the product still sticks to the lid of the can so that I will give it 4 stars instead of 1. ORIGINAL REVIEW: I’m sorry to say that this product doesn't work for us. We have tried it for a month, but it hasn't killed or kept away any flies. The flies are still there. What works is that it still sticks to the lid of the trash can, but that's the only positive thing I can say. ... show more
