The media could not be loaded. The handle side of the rod split. (See picture). Both of the spinners gears are not working, I thing the gears are stripped. The drag didn't work hardly at all. Finally the line that came pre-installed was loose, caused multiple tangles.

I picked these up because I have started traveling again, and have chosen to drive most destinations. In place of my standard rods, I can toss this in a small cubby in almost any car. The reels are okay. I have a couple of favorites that are compatible, so I swapped those out, but you definitely don't need to do that. Live in an apartment and don't want the hassle of storing full size rods, this is a great solution. The action on the reels is smooth. I was able to cast just fine, hitting the practice bucket most times. The price for this small, compact, and portable set of 2, is a great addition to any who likes to randomly stop and fish or who wants to prepare for an emergency.

Handy Little Kit for Spontaneous Fishing. The Telescopic Fishing Rod kit is a really neat setup, especially since it comes with two rods and reels packed in a convenient tote. I wouldn’t rely on it for a major fishing expedition, but it’s perfect to keep in my truck for off-grid emergencies or those unexpected opportunities to drop a line. Having a spare rod in the kit is a great bonus. The build quality is solid—nothing premium, but exactly what you’d expect for the price. This kit shines for casual use, like when you’re hiking and come across an out-of-the-way lake or stream with the rainbows biting. I’m definitely glad I picked it up. It’s also a good size for kids who are learning. We have a small creek with some deeper pools, and my kid loves trying his luck with this rod (no bites yet, but that’s hardly the rod’s fault!). Overall, a very handy and enjoyable little kit and a good value.

I set my expectations for this set pretty low to begin with, and somehow I was still disappointed. I mean, for the price, and everything you get, you really can't expect much in the way of quality. But I was still surprised by just how cheap everything felt. So first of all, you get 2 telescoping rods, 2 spinning reels preloaded with line, a fish gripper, a multitool, some tackle, and a bag to carry it all. We'll start with the rods. They are slightly under 7 feet long. They feel somewhat rigid, but not strong. Like if you actually hook a decent sized fish, it'll be likely to just snap the thing in half. The handle is just cheap foam and plastic. The whole thing just feels super cheap. Next, the reels. These are the worst part of the whole thing. They are mostly plastic. I honestly have never seen a reel like this that is mostly made of plastic. And you can tell it's not very well made because it's kind of noisy when reeling in. I'd honestly be surprised if there were any type of grease or lube in the gears. Again, it just feels cheap as cheap can be. The tools and tackle are pretty decent. Nothing to write home about, but probably the best part of this whole set. Overall, I'd say that sure, you can just throw this in the trunk and have it for when you're by a pond or lake and don't have your main gear. But I have used other telescoping rods or mini rods for this same purpose that are much higher quality, and not much more expensive. I would just spend slightly more and seek out one of those higher quality options. Honestly, I gave this 2 stars, only because I reserve 1 star reviews for products that are unusable. And technically, yes, this set is usable. It's just the cheapest of the cheap, and who knows how long it will actually last. Your money would be better spent elsewhere.

This is a very basic rod & reel set that probably isn't going to be the most durable or performant over time, but it's affordable and a lot is included for the price. The collapsible rod is convenient for transportation and even carrying with you on a hike. For those who might want to go into the backcountry with this product, it's not the most lightweight but isn't bad (especially for the price). Here are the weights of some of the parts included in this kit: - Rod and Reel (each, with protective cap installed): 12.0oz - Carry bag: 4.1oz - Pliers: 2.7oz - Grippers: 2.4oz The extended length of the rod is just over 7 feet, and collapsed it measures just under 17 inches with the protective cap installed. A little manual is included which contains a number of warnings for avoiding breaking the rod - that's great information but also makes me wonder whether rod breakage is a bit of a risk with this kit. I found the little box of grub lures and hardware to be underwhelming because it does not latch very securely. I'd suggest placing a velcro strap around it to avoid creating a mess if it pops open. It comes with 16 various grubs, eight swivels, and eight hooks with weights. The carry bag is convenient, but the layout of the rods means that you have to remove at least one of the reels from its rod in order to pack the entire set back into the carry bag. Thankfully, that's pretty easy to do. The reels ship with the crank on the lefthand side (if you fish with the reel below the rod), turning counter-clockwise to reel in, but the crank can easily be switched from one side to the other. The reels appear to be mostly plastic - I'm guessing this isn't going to be a durability winner here and is the main reason I lowered my rating on this item. The automatic bail return works fine on one of the reels in my kit, but is defective on the other one. I wasn't able to get it working even with a bit of TLC to address some lubrication and machining issues. It's not a deal-breaker, as it's easy enough to flip a bail back over after casting, but it doesn't exactly score points for quality. Overall, this is an affordable starter product but isn't without its trouble spots. It's convenient and easy to pack on a casual trip, but I'd use caution relying on it too much.
