Description

TEKTON 1/4 Inch Drive Dual-Direction Click Torque Wrench (10-150 in.-lb.) | TRQ21101 Calibrated to an accuracy of +/ 4% in the clockwise direction and +/ 6% in the counterclockwise direction, the TEKTON 1/4 in. Drive Click Torque Wrench lets you work with confidence, eliminating guessing and the common tendency to overtighten fasteners. Correctly tightening fasteners to a manufacturer's torque specifications ensures parts are properly secured without being damaged. Simple and easy to use, this wrench measures torque in both clockwise and counterclockwise directions. To measure torque, turn the springloaded adjustment collar to the desired setting (inch pounds or Newton meters) and release to lock in place. Tighten the fastener in a slow and controlled motion. When the preset torque value is reached, a reliable mechanical operation inside the handle produces a click you can hear and feel, alerting you to stop applying force. Built for consistent performance and years of dependable service, the mechanical design doesn’t need batteries, and the steel and aluminum construction has no internal plastic parts to wear out. IMPORTANT: This wrench is shipped precalibrated and ready to use. To help maintain calibration, store at its lowest setting of 10 in.lb./1.1 Nm when not in use. Be sure to read and understand the operator's manual, including all safety information, before first use. Specifications: Range - in.-lb.: 10-150 in.-lb. Range - Nm: 1.1-16.9 Nm Increment: 1 in.-lb. • Small, accurate for low torque usages
Style: Wrench
Had this for a couple of years now. Use it for low torque items on three older MB's, F150, and newer Toyota Rav4. The low torque values allow the trans-filer tube (plastic) on the Rav4 to be properly torqued. When you are dealing with very low torque values (15 in/lbs) its so easy to over tighten them. I just used it a couple of months ago on the MB's for valve cover service. Some of the bolts are only 4NM, some are 8NM, and some are 9NM. Well in the range for this wrench. Tech support for Tekton is really good. I was just doing the front wheel bearings and the rotor has a set screw that is 11NM (and wheel bearing nut set bolt is 8NM), well handled by this wrench and noticed that it was slipping a bit depending on the rotation angle. I contacted Tekton support via their support www page, and received an email within the hour. Short story, since I had the super small T6 screwdriver to service the head, they sent me a full head rebuild kit. If I did not have that - they would have replaced the wrench - life time warranty. Today the repair kit came, and it was a simple (but you need to be careful given the small springs) procedure to replace all of the head internal components. Now it works perfectly again. Can't ask for better support - they stand behind the products. Comes in a nice case, I leave it in the case with no tension for storage. Highly recommend. ... show more

  • Best torque wrench I’ve owned
Style: Wrench
The auto lock on the tension adjustment is awesome and easy to use. The extra small design makes it great for the small projects and has the storage tension printed on the handle so it’s easy to remember. I like the zippered case over a plastic clamshelll. I can store a few attachments inside it for repeat jobs. ... show more

  • Quality, accurate tool at a reasonable price
Style: Wrench
I needed a 1/4" torque wrench for working on smaller parts of my motorcycle. The torque wrench comes in a zippered case and fits nicely in my tool chest. It worked exactly as advertised and feels as accurate as my other torque wrenches. I replaced my 3/8" wrench with a Tekton too, because I liked this one so much. ... show more

  • Accurate torque and well made
Style: Wrench
I calibrate very expensive torque wrenches to NIST Standards at my work place, and these are just as accurate at a fraction of the cost.

  • Solid quality
Style: Wrench
This is the second one I’ve bought. I loved mine so much I bought one for a friend as a gift. Amazing quality. Low torque range which a lot of other manufacturers don’t have. 10/10

  • Works great, consistent clicks
Style: Wrench
I bought this for oil pan and transmission pan gasket jobs, which require both the right torque and consistent torque between bolts. The other concern is that since the steel bolts are going into aluminum threads, you must not over tighten or you'll strip the threads. This inch pound torque wrench did great. At each bolt I could both hear and feel the click clearly, and at each bolt it felt like it was clicking at the same pressure. Setting the torque is easy, and there is a positive engagement at each foot pound setting. The settings are easy to read. The wrench feels solid and it comes in a nice zippered hard case that keeps it protected in my tool drawer. ... show more

  • Great little tool!
Style: Wrench
Instruction are clear and easy to understand - This is JUST a torque wrench - does not come with any attachments - - In my opinion, it's best for use with bolts up to about 1/2" - if possible, get the bolt or equipment manufacture's specs on max torque. My purchase was for M8 (3/8") bolts at 12Nm One CAN order a wide variety of accessories (personal experience), and, as it's a standard 1/4 inch drive, most users will likely already have most everything that will be needed Once the tension is set, ( up to 150 inch/pounds [in-lb] or 16.9 Newtons/Meter [Nm] - ) there is no need to "read" anything - When the set torque is reached, there is a slight "bump" that is felt through the handle. (if your hearing is better than mine, you may hear a "click") The instructions suggest - wisely - to practice a bit to "get the feel" of proper operation. Personally, as I am getting old and my eyesight is getting bad, I prefer this method - - Because I don't have to struggle to read a scale or a display to know when I've reached the desired torque. (Being a bit of a gorilla, I have a tendency to snap bolts off - especially small bolts (1/2" is "small" to me) - so this tool is a great damage saver) Setting the desired torque is also very simple. Although some folks who are not familiar with the technique may have a short learning curve, it's just a matter of turning a knob until marks line up. The instructions have very clear pictures. The settings are in both ASE and Metric, so it is not necessary to mess around with conversion tables or calculators - although a conversion table IS included with the instructions. One precaution though. This is an all meta tool - if using on electrical equipment (which is my usage) it would be wise to wrap electrical tape around any accessory that may be at risk - and keep it in good shape. Shock hazard aside, a short circuit can cause extreme heat and serious burns. This precision instrument comes, as it should, in a nice hard fabric storage case with a tight zipper - the instructions fold nicely in the case - the tool is held in place in a pocket on one end, a Velcro strap on the handle. This case comes in a plastic bag and in a nice sturdy cardboard box - I store this combination in my home - not the garage or tool box - as befits a fine scientific instrument. One last thought - described in the instructions - my grandfather, a custom jeweler and watch maker, taught me that springs - and this device depends on a spring - springs have "memory" - that is, if left wound up, they loose their temper (as if they got angry and being cooped up too long) and 'forget' what they are supposed to do. SOOOoooo, always change the setting to the lowest point when puting this tool aside - especially when putting it into storage. Otherwise, it will loose accuracy over time. ... show more
