Description

Calibrated to an accuracy of +/ 4% in the clockwise direction and +/ 6% in the counterclockwise direction, the TEKTON 1/4 in. Drive Click Torque Wrench lets you work with confidence, eliminating guessing and the common tendency to overtighten fasteners. Correctly tightening fasteners to a manufacturer's torque specifications ensures parts are properly secured without being damaged. Simple and easy to use, this wrench measures torque in both clockwise and counterclockwise directions. To measure torque, turn the springloaded adjustment collar to the desired setting (inch pounds or Newton meters) and release to lock in place. Tighten the fastener in a slow and controlled motion. When the preset torque value is reached, a reliable mechanical operation inside the handle produces a click you can hear and feel, alerting you to stop applying force. Built for consistent performance and years of dependable service, the mechanical design doesn’t need batteries, and the steel and aluminum construction has no internal plastic parts to wear out.IMPORTANT: This wrench is shipped precalibrated and ready to use. To help maintain calibration, store at its lowest setting of 10 in.lb./1.1 Nm when not in use. Be sure to read and understand the operator's manual, including all safety information, before first use.Specifications:Range - in.-lb.: 10-150 in.-lb.Range - Nm: 1.1-16.9 NmIncrement: 1 in.-lb. • A really great, really tiny, well-designed tool.
Style: Wrench
This thing looks, feels, and works great. Adjustments are easy and the locking mechanism is excellent. Markings are easy to see, durability appears to be outstanding, and it's very compact. I also appreciate the 1/4" size, because 1/4" sockets are easier to get into tight spaces (and spaces with "inch-pound" torque requirements are often tight). Having 72 teeth is *amazing* for a torque wrench. The case isn't really "soft" it has a reinforcing plastic plate in it. The case design is surprisingly good... it protects the tool much better than regular blow-molded plastic cases. Really outstanding. Two warnings: 1) It's very, very small: like a foot long. I found this to be advantageous but if you're expecting a big heavy tool, you'll be sorely disappointed. 2) Because this only goes up to 150 inch pounds (which is roughly 13 foot pounds) it doesn't cover all of the range below a typical 1/2 inch drive torque wrench (which usually starts at 20 foot pounds). If you want to have just two torque wrenches, rather than having a third one to cover the in-between margin, you might want to get the OTHER Tekton 1/4-inch torque wrench (which does 20-200 inch pounds instead of 10-150). ... show more

  • Works great, consistent clicks
Style: Wrench
I bought this for oil pan and transmission pan gasket jobs, which require both the right torque and consistent torque between bolts. The other concern is that since the steel bolts are going into aluminum threads, you must not over tighten or you'll strip the threads. This inch pound torque wrench did great. At each bolt I could both hear and feel the click clearly, and at each bolt it felt like it was clicking at the same pressure. Setting the torque is easy, and there is a positive engagement at each foot pound setting. The settings are easy to read. The wrench feels solid and it comes in a nice zippered hard case that keeps it protected in my tool drawer. ... show more

Perfect for the job, great price.

  • Not Nm friendly scale
Style: Wrench
Accurate, usable for tight locations, a good add for my bike tool kit. But the Nm scale is rather hard to use. The math is simple, but do you want to do math when you're hot and sweaty and just need to get it set so you can ride? I made a simple table to find the main/micro scale settings for the various torque values. Slipped it into the the tool box for quick reference. Honestly, if I had realized the cumbersome setup for Nm I'd look elsewhere but the quality build seems apparent. ... show more

  • Great little tool!
Style: Wrench
Instruction are clear and easy to understand - This is JUST a torque wrench - does not come with any attachments - - In my opinion, it's best for use with bolts up to about 1/2" - if possible, get the bolt or equipment manufacture's specs on max torque. My purchase was for M8 (3/8") bolts at 12Nm One CAN order a wide variety of accessories (personal experience), and, as it's a standard 1/4 inch drive, most users will likely already have most everything that will be needed Once the tension is set, ( up to 150 inch/pounds [in-lb] or 16.9 Newtons/Meter [Nm] - ) there is no need to "read" anything - When the set torque is reached, there is a slight "bump" that is felt through the handle. (if your hearing is better than mine, you may hear a "click") The instructions suggest - wisely - to practice a bit to "get the feel" of proper operation. Personally, as I am getting old and my eyesight is getting bad, I prefer this method - - Because I don't have to struggle to read a scale or a display to know when I've reached the desired torque. (Being a bit of a gorilla, I have a tendency to snap bolts off - especially small bolts (1/2" is "small" to me) - so this tool is a great damage saver) Setting the desired torque is also very simple. Although some folks who are not familiar with the technique may have a short learning curve, it's just a matter of turning a knob until marks line up. The instructions have very clear pictures. The settings are in both ASE and Metric, so it is not necessary to mess around with conversion tables or calculators - although a conversion table IS included with the instructions. One precaution though. This is an all meta tool - if using on electrical equipment (which is my usage) it would be wise to wrap electrical tape around any accessory that may be at risk - and keep it in good shape. Shock hazard aside, a short circuit can cause extreme heat and serious burns. This precision instrument comes, as it should, in a nice hard fabric storage case with a tight zipper - the instructions fold nicely in the case - the tool is held in place in a pocket on one end, a Velcro strap on the handle. This case comes in a plastic bag and in a nice sturdy cardboard box - I store this combination in my home - not the garage or tool box - as befits a fine scientific instrument. One last thought - described in the instructions - my grandfather, a custom jeweler and watch maker, taught me that springs - and this device depends on a spring - springs have "memory" - that is, if left wound up, they loose their temper (as if they got angry and being cooped up too long) and 'forget' what they are supposed to do. SOOOoooo, always change the setting to the lowest point when puting this tool aside - especially when putting it into storage. Otherwise, it will loose accuracy over time. ... show more
