To interchange cable you are supposed to slide latch on back from A to B when combo is entered, put in cable end then slide back to A. With the cable end in it can't slide all the way to the left (see picture) which also locks the numbers in place so they can't move, and with minimal force can pull that end out. You can also see it came with black paint scratched off by slide which probably means someone else had already returned it. I know the product pictures show the cable coiled for shipment, but the description as seen in 3rd picture says all 3 cables are "non-coiling straight cables". This is false. The cable does not uncoil so it makes it difficult to thread even if the lock body itself worked. Good idea but terrible implementation, terrible quality control, and false description. This is a good cable lock, in that it comes with 3 lengths that can be switched out per specific needs. Where I plan to use this I may use the 2 longer lengths as needed. The mechanisms for locking and switching out the cables is much clearer in the product photos then the included instructions. I just downloaded those photos for future reference. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was that ALL the cables come tightly coiled. It was VERY difficult to stretch them out to encircle what I wanted locked. This makes it very difficult to take the cable lock on and off. If you have a fairly "permanent" situation, this may not be a problem, but I need to unlock and relock the cable fairly often. I tried stretching the cable out for 24 hrs, but that did very little to uncoil it. Other than that, it is a good cable lock (I know some reviewers said it wasn't that secure, but my needs are for a "deterrent", more than a hard core "prevention" type use). ... show more

I ordered one of these locks and it was broken on receipt. I bought a replacement it also was not working and I was not able to turn the numbers as well as unlock it. I would not recommend to buy this lock.

I bought this outdoor look for my fence, someone broke the old lock. This lock came with three steel cables of different lengths. The steel cables look durable and can't be cut off easily. Plus the 4-digit combination code not only can prevent theft but also easy to set up different codes at any time. I cut a Coke bottle in half and inserted the lock into it, this way it reduce the rain, snow, and freezes. I know this lock is for outdoor use, but the place I am living has 4 months of snow. I have been using this way in the winter for years. * Note that when changing the steel cable, the 4-digit number must be adjusted to the correct set number first. Otherwise, button A cannot be pushed to the right to B in order to remove the cable. The price is good. Hope this will help all. ... show more

I should’ve read the comments cause all of them said that it was broken when they got it and I didn’t pay attention the one time I usually love reading reviews, so if you’re reading this contemplating this product it’s a good chance that it’s gonna be broken by the time you buy it.
