OK, let's be honest: this is a budget phone, but WOW!, it's so nice! I can't believe how good it looks, feels, and works. If you're looking for a budget phone with some personality and a refreshing way to view your reading, this is the way to go. The NXTPAPER display is a game-changer for my eyes, and the overall performance is smooth for daily tasks. This is one fantastic phone. I highly recommend it! And the photo quality is pretty darn good, considering it's a budget phone.

The Nxtpaper 70 Pro is a great phone if you place a premium on eye care features. I’m very PWM sensitive and have no issues with this phone. Performance (non-gaming) is fairly snappy. The camera is pretty good vs other similar priced phones. One knock against this phone is the brightness level outdoors, and you do need to crank it up a bit, but I haven’t found that to be a big deal and there are no issues with brightness indoors. Battery is fine although Android Auto, which is a drain on most devices, hits this one particularly hard. It works great on Verizon with a sim card that was activated in another device. If you plan on activating with Verizon via eSIM, I’d be prepared for a bumpy ride at least for now. Of note: Wifi and Bluetooth work great but have a slightly shorter range than most other devices. TCL has some aggressive battery/app management so if this causes issues for you, I’d search around online for fixes as they do help significantly. There are not any very good cases available, the best you’ll be able to do is find a passable one. Although calls are fine, if you stream music through your phone’s speakers the results are mediocre at best. TCL’s customer service is horrible so if you think you’ll need to reach out to them at some point in the future, I’d look elsewhere. I’m giving five stars as I place a high premium on a flicker free experience. If you do too, it’s hard to find a better phone for the price.

This is the only modern smartphone option for people who are sensitive to the emissive OLED panels that have made their way onto the majority of devices. If you suffer from headaches, mental fog, eye irritation etc. after using the latest iPhone/Galaxy- TCL, e-ink, or certain LCD devices are your only options. TCL has given the market a viable option, not Apple, Samsung, or Google. With that said, the TCL Nxtpaper 70 pro is an extremely great value. 1) The Display is comfortable for eyes with low reflection and fingerprint resistant. Most importantly, no PWM or flicker! 2) TCL UI 9.0 is minimal with attention to detail. The ringtones, alerts, notification bar pulldown are all well thought out. 3) Design: Very minimal (less is more). Plastic build yet feels premium like matte glass. 4) Decent photos, better than most in the price range. Cons: Video is subpar. Software/Battery optimization can be too aggressive and disables apps in the background. I have noticed if I'm in a deadzone, the phone will take a while to regain signal once in a signal area. At 6.9 inch, it's a larger device. A smaller option would be perfect. All in all, TCL is on to something with their display technology. Hopefully they develop a true flagship as most companies are asleep at the wheel.

I’ve been really impressed with the TCL NXTPAPER 70 Pro, especially for the price. The screen is definitely the highlight for me. The display is much easier on my eyes than a regular glossy smartphone screen, especially when reading, browsing, or using the phone for a long time. There’s much less glare and reflection, and I really like the paper-like look. Text looks clear and comfortable to read, and at times it almost feels like using an e-reader while still having a full smartphone. It’s one of those features you appreciate more the longer you use it. For the money, I think the NXTPAPER 70 Pro is an excellent choice. I would definitely recommend it.

The TCL NXTPAPER 70 Pro is an excellent phone. The faux e-ink mode works as advertised and is every bit as easy on my eyes as an actual e-ink device. It's a pleasure to use overall, with fast performance, excellent built in features, and an absolutely gorgeous screen. It has a sturdy build - much moreso than the last Pixel I had in my hands, and the camera's great - not pro quality, but of more than high enough resolution for your average user. The screen is the real selling point, so I suppose I should say a little more. The Max Efficiency read mode quadruples battery life, and has a level of sharpness that I associate with ebooks. The resolution is high enough that each letter stands out and is super easy to read; coming from a dyslexic who needs reading glasses, that's high praise. I especially appreciate the soft matte finish on the screen. It reduces glare, resists fingerprints, and has a pleasant to touch texture. Overall, a 200% improvement over traditional screens, IMO. The only down side I can see is that in full-color screen mode, the battery life is less than impressive; it's not bad, it's just that compared to the other mode it feels like a letdown. Also, there are AI features shoehorned into the phone. They're opt-in and easy to ignore, but it seems like an unnecessary addition to an otherwise excellent phone.

This phone is fantastic. I bought it for my wife as she has been complaining about eye strain and has a hard time using devices in the dark, she loves her kindle products and I stumbled upon this phone while researching reasonable paths forward for her. The phone is snappy and she says it feels very premium and I have to agree. The matte screen is very cool and the screen looks very high quality. She just sat the phone down on my desk in front of me and I had a "no way am I seeing this right" moment when I noticed....it has an IR blaster on the top! You can use this phone with an app off the app store to control TVS or really probably anything that uses a traditional remote. It's like its 2010 all over again. I have an iPhone 16 Promax and I'm honest to God jealous. What a bargain phone. Bring back ir blasters!!! Long live matte screens!! Oh and it charges really fast too.

I’m just gonna be straight here. This is by far the best phone you can buy for this amount of money. Maybe even double. The screen is absolutely majestic and the features they give you for the price are unbeatable. I don’t know why other manufacturers haven’t caught onto this but this NXTPAPER screen is unreal. The only quibble I have with it is that it doesn’t have wireless charging. But I can live with that for the price. TCL is really onto something here.

Out of the box, it has good weight, does not feel cheap, and the screen is the best thing I have ever seen.I have not been able to see my phone in the sun in years, but this new "paper" screen is the BOSS! I have not connected it to my current provider yet, but I feel like it will be easy to use and I will transition to it quickly (I'm not big on change with electronics because I don't understand them). I found a wallet-style case for it, with a crossbody strap so I can easily carry it securely and not have to drag a big purse around. It's a stylish mid-range phone, and just enough for me to be impressive but not overwhelmed by the technology. I'm up there in years and hard to learn new tricks.
