    • Alloy Steel - Yet Both of Them Are Now Bent After First Use

Used with a Ryobi drill, which I do NOT recommend. I tried & tried & tried to dig down in the dirt next to my garage, near my street, far in the back, in the woods, in front of the woods. It's a 100 year old house, old farm property. Each & every time, would not dig down at all. Nothing. I tried many spots. Dirt wouldn't budge. Tried many of the settings on the drill. The same. This is an acre-size property, there can't be metal under the WHOLE yard, so I pulled out my metal detector, tried to see what I was hitting. Nothing. I tried in the dirt of my garden, which I know is only dirt. Wouldn't go down at all. Acted like it was hitting something, stopped spinning, motor buzzed. Much of this can be attributed to the Ryobi. But BOTH of these augers bent. Neither is straight any longer. And b/c they are steel, they can not be bent back straight, so I now have 2 angled augers. ... show more

We used it to start the holes to put up a chainlink fence. Naturally it would have been better to be 4" by 36" but this sure helped ease the work load. Also used it bore a hole under the sidewalk and push a 2" PVC pipe under it to run an electric wire thru. I know that was not its intended purpose, but it worked. I used a battery powered Makita drill whis drill bitwhich worked well with sandy soil but seized up with heavy clay soil filled with roots, you need good torque!

Great tool for digging 4" post holes. Can only go down about 20" cuz the length of the shaft, but worked great. The bit attachment to the drill wore down after about 6 holes dug, but for the price, saved me from digging post holes the old fashioned way. Highly recommend!

While it's still a bit shorter than I would've liked the tool is definitely quality made and the auger is able to pull up and move the dirt out of the way sufficiently. It does not jam with dirt and has a smooth coating that allows it to shed dirt. You can even improve that by adding some lubrication spray so dirt slides right off ... show more

Our magnolia was looking like a victim of some attack - leaves were thin, branches were bare. I had an arborist out but his suggestions didn't help and it cost me $150.00. I had poured manure and epson salts and blood meal and so many things under this tree and all it did was green up the lawn! So my husband and I decided to figure it out on our own. We got this auger and some tree food and made 18 holes around the drip line and filled them with tree food. And now the tree is recovering and getting leaves. This auger thing really saved a big magnolia tree! We are really glad we found this! ... show more
