Do I have to buy any parts for installation ? You need to buy a 150 psi pressure relief valve. Also take into consideration your exhaust diameter from the heater to your actual vent. You may need to get some adapters dependent on your situation. What size propane tank does this unit require? Yes you can use any size tank , its all about the lp pressure going into the heater . And the pressure and temp of the water going into the tank , to determine performance . Can this unit be used for a whole house application? Kitchen sink, vanity, shower and washing machine? You need electric to get it started and for the control panel like adjusting the hot water temp. How long can this unit run? Until the propane is out? is this unit producing a constant temperature? It will run as long as it has gas or propane supply and the hot water is turned on. It will give a constant temperature which also does not need set very high because its hot on demand. The CAMPLUX 3.18 GPM works exactly as desired. I have a small cabin with a kitchen sink, bathroom sink and shower. Hot water feels stable, ignition and heating is on demand. The unit has not been heavily used but is working as desired. You can NOT have mixing valves. Separate hot and cold valves are required for the system to function as designed. Installation was relatively simple. Proper venting and clearance to combustibles are the biggest safety issues. There is some gas firing noise when the unit is operating. In my opinion this is desirable and not a negative. I contemplated going to the next larger unit but running hot wide open both sinks did not affect the temperature.

I had internal/electronic problems with the original Camplux 3.18 GPM Propane Instant Hot Water Heater I bought, but the Support Staff at Camplux were exemplary in resolving the situation by replacing the unit, even though I had already passed the 30-day return policy Amazon had established. Greater Detail: I ordered this unit from Amazon on March 8, 2023 and had it shipped to my home in Texas. However, I bought the water heater for my cabin, which is in the Kiamichi Wilderness area of Oklahoma. Thus, I was unable to install the unit until I returned to the cabin on Saturday, April 15, which was several days beyond Amazon's 30-day return policy for the heater. I unboxed the heater for the first time and began installation the next day (Sunday, April 16.) After installing the heater with all recommended hook-ups (see picture) and pre-use leak tests, I plugged-in the unit. The LED Display did NOT come on … and it still didn't, even after I’d performed all the steps given in Amazon’s "Troubleshoot on your own" support page for the water heater. Needless to say, I was very disheartened...especially since I'd already passed the "return by" date. [Note: Before you begin installation, I strongly suggest you plug-in the unit briefly…i.e. just long enough to make sure the display lights-up. However, do NOT tap any buttons on the display, as you’re not supposed to tap any buttons until both gas and water are running to/through the water heater.] Realizing I could no longer return/replace through Amazon, I emailed Camplux directly and requested an RGA number to return the unit for warranty repair(s). I explained the situation in detail and received a response within a couple hours. Over the next few days the support staff walked me through several troubleshooting scenarios—all of which were easy to do—and the Camplux personnel were exceptionally friendly and respectful throughout the process. After 2-3 days of communicating/troubleshooting with Support, the techs at Camplux decided that the unit was indeed defective and that Camplux would replace it, completely free-of-charge (and without my needing to return the original heater.) Wow! I wasn’t expecting that…I was still expecting a 6-8 week warranty return/repair situation. I received my new water heater within a week after Camplux said they’d replace the original, and I immediately opened the box. Leaving the unit in the box, I plugged it in to see if the display would light…Voila! It did!!!! Now all I need to do is take it to the cabin and install it. Then—after I’ve used it for awhile—I plan to write a follow-up review on the water heater, itself. Hopefully the heater will get the same, 5-star review that Camplux Support is getting from me in this write-up. They were exceptional, and I am so very grateful for the service they've provided me.

I have had a hell of a time with this tankless heater unit. It work great for about 13 months. It is perfect for our needs in an unfinished barndo. Install is really easy. Electrical usage is minimal. It only uses AC to start the propane burner and run a little status screen on the front. The status screen is pretty good. Lots of the right info. Easy controls to set temps. We love it. Then it started getting flaky. The temp would fluctuate like it was having a hard time keeping the temp regulated. This went on for awhile and we lived with it. Now it has gotten to the point where it is dangerous. It will go from the set 124°F temp to 180°F+ and then shuts off. This heater only services a kitchen sink, dishwasher, washer/dryer and a bathroom sink. If it served a shower it would be unusable. We are looking for a replacement. It still works and we get by with it but it is becoming to dangerous to use. If we had children in the house we would have replaced it long ago.

I used this for my park model (Mobile home) tiny house. Installed today and everything is working great, here are some installation notes: -BUY THE CAMPLUX THIMBLE if you plan on vending through a wall. They have nothing even close at Home Depot to shield your wall from the hot exhaust vent. It is not included. -This did NOT use the same fitting as my water heater flexible lines. I believe they are 1/2" and my water heater is 3/4". 1/2" PEX pipe throughout my place and it seems to work just fine. -I used a flexible line that I t'eed off from my gas stove with a 1/2" coupler to connect this male-to-male on the bottom of the unit. -I installed in a small cabinet and cut a hole in the door for ventilation. Used one of those aluminum eve vents over the hole that I made and it seems to be working great. -This puppy has a 110v plug, so if your water heater is hard wired, buy a junction box and install a plug (I did a GFCI) so you can just plug it right in. -I cranked up the heat to 135 degrees and it's HOT! No more 5 minute showers for my wife, she is going to be happy. I cant speak for the long term reliability but initially everything seems to be working great. It says it is not approved to be installed in a mobile home but it's almost the perfect application in my mind, working very nicely.

Updated Review: So I still stand by my original review of the first unit I received and the hard money I spent to install, uninstall, re-pipe, and ect so I will keep the original review included below, but things have changed drastically. Following my original review I was super surprised to see I had been reached out to by the company. They expressed concern and asked how they could make matters better. They suggested a full refund and sending me a brand new unit. I was very happy to proceed and my new unit arrived fast. The new unit arrived well packed, but the box was pretty destroyed in shipping. The unit itself was great and fired up perfectly on install. The new unit I received has been wonderful. Truly we on the off grid homestead have been very happy with this unit. The unit is simple to operate and has generated awesome quick heat. Propane use seems low and the unit is super quiet. While it does also use 120v, my watts meter seems to notice nothing of real use much of the time. Overall, I love this new unit. Now will it last IDK? I pray. Is there issues? A few. We notice when the unit has any kind of restricted water flow from the pump it tends to go a bit hot crazy. The heat will jump wildly until a consistent pressure is reached. This is mostly rare, but he have noticed it when the pipes are cold from our cistern. Overall I would by again in the future. The new unit is great and the customer service has been excellent. Original review: It’s a instant propane water heater, well that is if it arrives working. So I purchased this unit praying, no hoping, previous reviews of this unit were wrong. People had complained about it not working or failing. If your like me you love to give the underdog a chance. A chance to win the day, however my off grid hopes were dashed the moment I opened the box. The unit seemed well packaged and it was. Sadly the company sent me a defective unit with damage to the glass led screen and and non-working up button. I noticed the glass damage, but installed it anyways hoping the damage was mostly cosmetic. Sadly I was wrong. The unit jumps around with temps, pressure, and the power button is all that works. Very sad as it looks like it would be nice, like nice as an art piece…..if it also worked. So sorry to dash anyone’s dreams on the this unit, as I paid good money to install it in my off grid bath house and wanted it to work. If I was you, I would purchase somewhere else with someone else, or a least until this company or unit is corrected.

I've been using Camplux water heaters for several years now and so far they are durable and reliable. I have 2 WH's installed at a remote off-grid location at a high altitude (5000' +) and they both work flawlessly. One is about 3 years old, maybe 4. The other is a new version of the same water heater, but Camplux added a feature that is AWESOME. Set the temp and walk away. Inlet water temperature and ambient air temp doesn't matter. If you set the temp to 100 F, then it'll be 100 F. Much better than manually setting gas and water flow, winter or summer. It just works. I have found that the battery operated units don't work well at high altitudes. Get the 120v model and put an inverter on a 12 volt deep cycle battery. They use very little current. Great job on this model Camplux!!

This unit works great, but the instructions do not help you install it properly. If this is installed in a house or even a camp, it needs to be vented outside. The small "L" piece that is provided was inadequate for my installation. If it works for your situation, you will need to buy the wall sleeve kit for $60+/-. Good luck finding extra pipe for venting online, because there isn't any. This unit has a 2.36" (60 mm) pipe diameter, for which there is essentially no pipe available. I finally communicated with Camplux and they said to use 3" diameter and don't worry about the sloppy fit at the unit. There is a nice 3" kit available for about $225, but even with that kit, you may want to hire a professional.

I know this is a great unit, my friend in AZ has one, however , I am at 6200 ft. Unit will not fire above 2000 ft elevation. So even though I know it is hot stuff, I cannot use it, just goes to error. I contacted support and they said it cannot be rejetted, it needs to see certain air density.
