Somehow we ended up with two separate orders of the same item. Not sure if it was our mistake or a glitch with the computers. I wasn't upset about that really, life happens and things aren't always as we want and it's possible somehow we ordered it twice by mistake. The issue we had was with the return policy. Luckily for us we had not opened the box yet. Still had to pay $20 to ship the unopened original packaging. If we had opened the box the policy is no return or only a $20 credit on a $100+ item. I don't know how the different hinges on the roof are supposed to go, as they don't seem to fit. I managed to split the wood on the bottom hinges and the two on the sides won't close right. If you live in CA or NV, maybe. But, if you live in the rainforest of WA/OR or the ssamp of NC, you will have to paint or stain the urethane the dog house.

This was incredibly easy to put together. We worked together and didn't have the hinge problem people mentioned. However, ours is split near both hinges. I have doubts about how long it will last due to that, but hopefully I can put some wood filler in the cracks or something when the weather improves. The strays absolutely love it inside and sitting on the outside, and I can't wait to invest in more. We appreciated the convenience of having it all already put together. We have already lifted the lid to add additional straw and was easy and convenient. We're happy and the strays are happy about it! ... show more

Where the hinges aren't meant to screw into the roof (a) the mounting points came uneven and (b) it's too flimsy to support the screws it came with. Otherwise things seem fine. I'm forced to leave the hinges unused.

I purchased this house for the outdoor cats that visit. I placed straw inside for bedding and the cats moved right in. So far we have had some heavy rainstorms and the design of the house has allowed the rain to run off the roof without getting inside the house.
