I found an issue which I think is an unsafe flaw; the connectors used to join two short bars to form a ling bars are thin, weak, and unsturdy; if you don't pay attention and lift the entire shelving by holding on the vertical bars above the joints, then the bottom can fall and get separated from the top; the tabs of the connectors are thin and can break; I feel it is not safe with how the four long vertical bars are connected with these connectors; that is the only issue I found and it is a big issue; ... show more

So, I feel like I'm nesting with how much I've been tearing apart the house and re-organizing the garage and basement. My hubby is actually scared I'm preggo again haha. Anyways, I decided to start re-doing the garage layout and put up shelves that I can use labeled bins on them for easy reference and also get stuff off the ground so maybe we can possibly use the second half of the garage for another vehicle. I liked the look of this one because it matched a previous shelf I'd bought from the HD that cost me twice as much. The unit itself was shipped well and just by the weight/feel of the package it's easy to tell it's a solid shelf. And it really was once we put it together (I say we, but it was really me in the 90 degree heat struggling with the box and then placement). I like how adjustable it is, how sturdy it sat on the concrete garage floor, and the shelves were sturdy AF. They withstood the weight of the odds and ends and bins that I have on it haven't budged the unit or bowed the shelves. You can install this by yourself! But warning, it’s heavy duty and not like something thin. Even the boards are thicker than others. The installation is easy if you have a 4v4 piece of wood or rubber hammer. Because the frame has to be tight and properly assembled for the boards to sit flat and even. The max assembly time is 30 minutes. The difficult part was to how to space it out. Every shelf that you assembled, put your desire boxes on it first and assemble the next shelf so you have enough height to store short or tall boxes. It will be a pain to take everything off so do it right from the first try. Price might be a little high but trust me, the quality is great and it’s super heavy duty. I've assembled shelves like this before. And they hold a lot of heavy stuff. It's not really too hard to put together. But, yes, it can be a bit wobbly at first, depending on how you start. Yes, be careful or you can slice a finger. It's sheet metal... My advice, put the bottom and top together first. Set the base against a wall. Assemble the long corner pieces and connect each to the base, then attach the top. Leaning them against a wall makes it easy to do by yourself. The shelves are better than average press board and simple to slip into the frame. Like most projects, I recommend that you don't tighten everything completely until you're done, and don't install the little black caps on the top until you install the top shelf board. That makes it easier to slip the top board into the frame. Also, watch out that when you install "tab A" into "slot B" that the tab is actually in the slot. If it's not and you whack it with your rubber mallet, if you don't manage to snap the tab off, you'll have to pry the pieces apart to fix it and insure frame stability. Make sure you have a mallet for construction-- hammer chips the paint. Easy to put together (instructions weren't very helpful though, no directions on how to make it a lengthwise shelf as shown in product images). But you will get it. Triple check the notches arw properly lined up on both ends before securing with thw mallet to save frustration. Also, the little metal tabs that help it lock in place-- get some pliers and make sure they are flush before trying to install, it will make it easier to line up. Set up the first frame bars (four sides, four vertical bars) and then put in the bars for the next shelf BEFORE the halfway connection point of the vertical bars, so it is sturdy as you put it together. I tried to put it together as shown in the instructions (vertical sides first) and ended up bending the dickens out of one of the metal tabs. Overall all this is a good shelf. Mdf shelf boards are about 1/4" though. If you are storing very heavy objects, I would recommend going and getting some wood cut to fit. ... show more

This is good, sturdy, strong utility shelving which I have no doubt will have a long "shelf" life. The good thing is that it is not difficult to put together, but the not so great thing is that the instructions that come with it (no words, just pictures), were put together by children. Obviously. How cute!! If you stay with it, you can figure it out. But any one of us could put together a far more user friendly set of instructions that would make the job a lot easier and more pleasant. Instructions that are not intuitive for those who are not easily versed in putting stuff together could get very frustrated. Do a better job, please, with your instructions. You might want to consider that your product is really only as good as the instructions are to put it together to use. I didn't have much trouble, so I am ordering another one, secure in the knowledge that I now know how to put it together without hesitation. ... show more
