I never had a classic Tamagotchi as a kid, but I realized as an adult, with money, I can finally indulge in this virtual pet experience! I love the swirly colourful case, and the whole unit is a lot lighter than I was expecting for some reason. I am only just slightly annoyed that the price sometimes varies so much per case design, which feels kinda arbitrary considering the gameplay is exactly the same on each unit from what I can tell. The screen is pretty clear, though seeing the menu selection items under certain lighting conditions is really difficult. I have had no trouble using the original battery it came with; the battery life seems reasonable to me. On my first play my Tama got the PeterPan glitch; it refused to grow up, and suddenly died for no reason at all (I was obsessively monitoring it). After I unscrewed the battery case (which was not an easy task and needed a tiny screwdriver), took out the battery for a few minutes, and pressed the reset button for good measure, the second Tama evolved into a child just fine. It is really fun to play, and for the most part the Tamas do not seem to be quite as needy as I was anticipating, so I'm glad I don't have to quite so obsessively keep track of their needs. The one 'which side' guessing game can feel a little frustrating and it would be nice to have another game mode, but I suppose this is the original classic experience, so I appreciate that for what it is. I do wish the alert sound for when the Tama has pooped was much louder (if there is any sound at all, I've never been able to catch it), because it makes keeping the Tama clean a bit harder than when say, its needs are critically low, or it gets sick for some reason, or needs disciplining. ... show more

I am so happy about this purchase. Its just as I remember from being a kid. They do require alot of attention. Not really for younger kids because they require you to be attentive to them. I have had to realive mine twice already but maybe im just not very good.

Got this for my son for Christmas. Overall it works well. Wish it included more information on the growth cycles of the tamagotchi. Also, it’s been less than two months and the first button doesn’t press correctly and pop back out as it should. It’s wearing down too fast. We’ll see how long it’s lasts. ... show more

It arrived quickly and in perfect condition. It's looks even prettier in person and I'm having lots of fun with it. The buttons where a bit hard to press at first, but after a day they became really comfortable.

The media could not be loaded. This tamagotchi is exactly the same ones from my 90’s nostalgia! Feeding, cleaning poop, taking it to the doctor… ahhhh, why did we want to grow up so fast? I gifted this to my 5 year old thinking she too would love it! And… she did… for about 30 minutes. But like any new pet, puppy, or grand idea, this will become YOUR responsibility quickly! Do you have time in your life for that?!?! I certainly don’t. Did I love it for a day? YES! So much fun! My 90’s heart was beaming and I wanted to attach ten of them to my backpack! Will it likely sit in my top drawer for another year until my daughter finds it again and obsesses for a day before I put it back in the drawer for another year because I can never throw it out?
