  • So cute & nostalgic, lots of fun!
Color: Mermaid (Updated Logo)
Bought as a gift for my 6 year old niece. She loved it! The mermaid design is perfect for her and her mom said she didn’t stop playing with it once she opened it. So fun and nostalgic for 90’s kids. They look exactly like they did when they first came out! Can’t wait to buy one for my kid when she’s older. ... show more

  • Almost clone of the original
Color: Lightning
The Tamagotchi original lightning is a modern iteration of the classic virtual pet toy, designed to be easier to care for than its predecessor. This makes it more accessible to a younger audience, with a recommended age of 7 and up. However, users should exercise caution with the snacks provided, as they have the potential to harm the creature, adding an element of responsibility and strategy to the gameplay compared to the original. The toy successfully taps into nostalgia for millennials who grew up with the original Tamagotchi, while also offering a fresh and engaging experience for younger children. Additionally, it’s slightly lighter in weight than the original units of the 90s. Overall, it combines the charm of the past with contemporary features, making it a versatile and appealing choice for a wide range of users. ... show more

  • Epic
Color: Flower Gingham (Updated Logo)
It's fun-sized! Very cute and it can handle being dropped a few times, so very durable. The screen brightness is iffy but that's okay. It lasts extremely long and you won't have to change the batteries often.

  • Still love Tamagotchis in my 30s!
Color: Pink Treasure Jewel
I love that Bandai is still making the older gen Tamagotchi. When I was a kid, I wasn't allowed to have one, so here I am, an adult who now owns and still plays with many Tamagotchis from Gen 1 to Uni. These are still the original size, which is great, fun to play, the sound is nostalgic, and I love that there are a lot of designs and characters available. ... show more

  • Trying to bring the popular Hand -Held game of the 1990’s into the 2000’s
Color: Angel Lace
Just as cute as it was years ago, it still fits in your hand & it still can be carried in your pocket, but…. When this game was originally brought out in the 1990’s, they didn’t have the same technology available as we do now in 2020’s, they upped the price to reflect progress, but why haven’t they increased the tech to reflect progress. It still LACKS the basics of a BACK-LIT SCREEN which would make it easier to see & would extend a persons playing time; the only change that has been made in this version, is that I can now turn the sound off! If they can increase the price they should increase the quality of play. This game is still being advertised as a child’s game & my children play games far more advanced than this. They don’t seem to want to admit that many of the people playing this are ADULTS. ... show more

  • Nostalgic entertainment
Color: Candy Swirl (Updated Logo)
I never had a classic Tamagotchi as a kid, but I realized as an adult, with money, I can finally indulge in this virtual pet experience! I love the swirly colourful case, and the whole unit is a lot lighter than I was expecting for some reason. I am only just slightly annoyed that the price sometimes varies so much per case design, which feels kinda arbitrary considering the gameplay is exactly the same on each unit from what I can tell. The screen is pretty clear, though seeing the menu selection items under certain lighting conditions is really difficult. I have had no trouble using the original battery it came with; the battery life seems reasonable to me. On my first play my Tama got the PeterPan glitch; it refused to grow up, and suddenly died for no reason at all (I was obsessively monitoring it). After I unscrewed the battery case (which was not an easy task and needed a tiny screwdriver), took out the battery for a few minutes, and pressed the reset button for good measure, the second Tama evolved into a child just fine. It is really fun to play, and for the most part the Tamas do not seem to be quite as needy as I was anticipating, so I'm glad I don't have to quite so obsessively keep track of their needs. The one 'which side' guessing game can feel a little frustrating and it would be nice to have another game mode, but I suppose this is the original classic experience, so I appreciate that for what it is. I do wish the alert sound for when the Tama has pooped was much louder (if there is any sound at all, I've never been able to catch it), because it makes keeping the Tama clean a bit harder than when say, its needs are critically low, or it gets sick for some reason, or needs disciplining. ... show more

  • Classic toy, just as annoying as it was 30 years ago
Color: (Amazon Exclusive) Celebration Y3k + Tra...
I was feeling nostalgic when I picked this up and forgot about how obnoxious these things are XD Not the toy's fault, if you loved Tamagotchis in the 90s you'll be thrilled with this. Just maybe try to remember how often you shoved yours in a sock drawer before buying

  • Eh
Color: Fresh Strawberry
Pros: Nostalgic; cute to add to a keychain or bag. Cons: Expensive for what you’re getting. Screen is super dark and the brightness can’t be adjusted. Buttons too small for adult fingertips. I have average size fingertips for a woman and it’s challenging to press the buttons. Too much work to keep it alive. No power off button to take a break. Spent $20 to be annoyed lol ... show more
