    • Trust me, use corn starch to install

I put these on an all metal pullup bar without pads. The bar hurt my hands a lot, so I figured I'd try some pads before going with gloves. When they arrived I thought they were WAY too small as it didn't even come close to fitting. However, I tried anyway, with the first one using soap and water per the instructions on Amazon. With a whole lot of massive force, grunting, and twisting, I finally got it on and in place, but it took every ounce of energy I had and about 30 minutes of continuous effort. I then decided to read more reviews and saw one where someone suggested using corn starch. So, on my second one, I put dry corn starch on the bar and all over the inside of the pad. While it was still a struggle that required strong effort, this one took less than five minutes and was MUCH easier to twist it into place. The pads themselves are soft and seem sturdy so far and I do recommend them. ... show more

I have an old doorframe pull-up bar and the foam handles had split. I saw these and measured 0.2”, which would have been thicker than the existing foam. When I got them, I noticed they were actually slightly less thick than the ones which split apart. It’s still okay, but would be nice with more padding. It’s more of a dense kind of rubbery foam. Cut the pieces down a few inches to fit the handles, mixed a spray bottle with a tiny amount of dish soap, spritzed the inside of the foam tube and it slid on without much effort. ... show more

Outstanding pullup bar foam grip replacement. VERY comfortable. Soft rubber rather than foam. Great! I used other buyers' directions of using dish soap and water to install these replacement pieces on my pullup bar. They are a fantastic thickness and feel MUCH better when I'm hanging from them than the foam grip pieces they replaced. I am wonderfully pleased with this product. I would buy again. Used as replacement grips for a pullup bar. Smooth on the outside with comfortable amount of cushioning inside. Pretty easy to slip over bars but check your outer diameters. Was able to install one set by pushing and pulling pretty easily. Bought another set for neutral grips portion of same bar and had to use a bit of soapy water as recommended. The material is very durable, tough, padded, etc... but I find it to be too slick for gripping (especially for pull-ups). It is more of a smooth rubbery finish than that of a foam (like what used to be on my bar before wearing out). Make no mistake, I doubt this will wear out. But I have trouble gripping this and hanging on to do sets of pull-ups, especially if my hands are the least bit sweaty. I typically have to use chalk/powder. Great comfort and perfect fit for a curl bar. I had to use a squirt of WD-40 to get it to slip on and even that was quite difficult. So suffice to say it is a nice tight fit on the bar.
