This was a pretty cool gift to give my son as a surprise. So it does need to be assembled, but the instructions do a pretty good job at explaining how to do so. It has a lot of stickers that you need to apply first before you put it together. So it didn’t take too long maybe 30 minutes top. It needs batteries because you can turn it on but turning it on is really just for sounds effects. The game is able to work with no batteries which is pretty cool. The size is a good size because it’s not too big where it takes up too much space but it’s also not too small where it doesn’t feel like a pinball machine. It’s not something you can take apart once it’s up so I suggest making sure you have some area to store it between uses, we keep it on the top of a bookshelf in my sons room. It comes with lots of little balls and it’s a pretty simple concept to understand, my kids all figured it out pretty quickly and even if they didn’t, it’s still fun to play with for kids. I grabbed this space pinball machine because it looked like a fun little screen free game to keep around, and it’s actually pretty entertaining for what it is. I set it up on the table and messed with it for a bit, and the lights and sounds make it feel more fun than a basic plastic toy. The pull-back launcher works fine, the flippers respond okay, and the suction cups help keep it from sliding around too much while playing. The space theme is colorful and cute, and the size is nice because it doesn’t take up a ton of room but still feels big enough to enjoy. Quality-wise, it’s definitely plastic and more of a kids’ tabletop toy than a serious mini arcade machine, so I wouldn’t expect it to survive rough handling forever. At first sight (when I unpacked the pinball game) I was a bit overwhelmed by all of the pieces and parts that required assembly. This is why I took so many photos of the parts. Once I unpacked everything fully, I realized that it wasn't as much a pain to assemble as I thought. The instructions are a bit basic, but I was still able to follow them without much difficulty. Some plastic parts require a bit more elbow grease to attach than others, but with a bit of care, they do attach securely. Generally speaking, the game is built well for general use by a toddler. I don't foresee any little ones banging the game too hard or abusing it such that it would cause breakage. It is the right size for a toddler to be able to play well, pick up, and move to another location without problem. **One word of caution: the balls do resemble the smaller gumballs, both in size and color (see picture), so make sure that your toddler is well aware not to put them in his or her mouth.** Otherwise, I think it's a great toy, and worth the price. -I would have taken a picture of the assembled product, but my 5 year old stole it away from me once assembled. ... show more

This tabletop space pinball game is a fun concept and works well once fully set up. The quality is decent for a lightweight plastic toy, and the sound and light effects add some extra arcade-style excitement. The suction cup feet also help keep it stable on smooth surfaces during play. However, installation/assembly was more involved than expected. It wasn’t clear upfront that assembly was required, and some of the pieces, especially around the controllers, felt tight and difficult to snap into place. I was concerned about breaking the plastic while putting it together. Gameplay itself is simple and enjoyable once assembled. It’s easy for one or two players, and the compact size makes it good for tabletop play. That said, the set I received didn’t include three balls of each color as specified, which was disappointing. For durability, the plastic seems okay for light play, but the tight assembly, thinner components, and push in assembly makes me cautious about long-term wear.
