I ordered this to expand my workshop and start making more custom projects from wood, acrylic, leather, and anodized metal. I've used a few hobby laser engravers over the years, and this one has been a pleasant surprise. Assembly was straightforward, and I was engraving test pieces much sooner than I expected. The 400 x 400 mm work area gives plenty of room for signs, coasters, ornaments, and other larger projects. I also like that it supports offline operation, so you aren't tied to a computer once your files are ready. The engraving quality has been very good on wood and painted or anodized metals. The built-in air assist is a nice feature that helps produce cleaner cuts and reduces scorching compared to machines without it. Like any diode laser, you'll still need to dial in your power and speed settings for different materials, but once you do, the results are consistent. It supports common software such as LaserGRBL and LightBurn, making it easy to fit into an existing workflow. My only real criticism is that there is a learning curve if this is your first laser engraver. Expect to spend some time experimenting with settings before getting perfect results. Also, because this is a Class 4 laser, proper eye protection and safe operating practices are absolutely essential. Overall, this is a capable machine that offers a lot for hobbyists and makers looking to get into laser engraving without spending thousands of dollars. Keep in mind you are going to want to either have this in an area where there is plenty of ventalation or you have a fume collector set up. All lasers put off a lot of smoke, fumes when used so that is an additional cost factor for new users. You can also buy a cheaper case for this, around 50 bucks, and then hook up a low cost (40 bucks or less) 3 inch round fan like what they use in grow rooms to pull the smoke out a window if you have to use this inside. I would suggest using in a garage with the doors open if possible personally just to avoid the smoke and smell issues.
